Yeah the hair gets in my eyes. Yes it replaced all the carpeting except the carpet on the back of the rear seats.

Washed and waxed. Only a few pin stripes remain.
Also added a grounding strap from the Aev tire carrier retention bolt to a bolt on the frame. The idea is to improve the ham reception. I'm not sure the tire carrier was grounded to the frame since it slots into brass bushings covered in grease. But the retention bolt threads through the bottom into a welded in captive nut.

I got it last fall. The soft top was fun in the summer but it was a pain to fold back or down. And I didn't feel secure leaving it parked in the woods while I hike, or street parked in the city with my gear and tools in it. The sunrider has been an awesome in between. This is actually my second one. The rivets were too small on the early models, which caused it to rattle. So bestop sent me a brand new one for free. They really stand behind their products. Replaced the $2 rivets and sold the original one. It's a little loud on the highway. But for daily driving, it's great to be able to open or close the roof with one hand any time you're going under 30mph.

We headed down to Anza to check out the second half of this bloom. Much greener and more colorful than usual. And definitely more people than usual. People were camped everywhere. It took 3 water crossings and a boulder strewn hill climb to stop the Civics and Prius from getting farther down Coyote Canyon. And all the campspots in Sheep Canyon were taken so we had to make our own. We also learned that our German Shepherd has no understanding of cacti as she kept running into them, lying under them, stepping on them. They didn't seem to bother her. But they sure stuck us.

My friend Paulgardner didn't find us on saturday night but ended up camping 100ft from us. So we found each other in the morning.
Spent a lot of time pulling people out that were totally unprepared or didn't know how to drive in sand.
40psi, flooring it and 2wd isn't a good combo.
This guy was surprisingly prepared. I have not idea how he got this far down the trail. This was like 8 miles down a sandy trail.

Texas is probably like the low desert here. Hot, dry, dusty, and windy as hell. It's not my favorite unless you have your secret camping spots staked out. But less things to cave your door in on than the forest.

Thanks! I got a new camera lens that made a big difference. It was too many trails in one day. But there isn't anywhere you really want to stop and hang out in Anza borrego. Paul engineers telescopes for a living. So he gave us a private tour of the Palomar Observatory where he used to work on the way home (after Julian apple pie of course), which was awesome.

Trying to keep getting back out there during this shoulder season. I think we found the real super bloom this year. I'd love to go back when the area isn't filled with Priuses. Lots more to explore.

After 4 off roading trips without doing maintenance, I spent the weekend changing fluids and retorquing bolts. Anyone else used lube lockers on their diff covers? I switched the front diff seal to a lube locker from the liquid gasket. The bottom bolts were weeping some gear oil. I'm hoping I can carry one spare lube locker for both axles on trips.

Yeah,
I've been running L.L.s for a while.
One axle has a stock cover, the other axles all have HD cast covers.
Definitely use a torque wrench at their recommended spec.
I've had the covers off all three axles more than once now.
No seepage. The most mileage on any axle between lube changes has been 12K miles though. So I don't know how they'd do for normal service intervals.

Yeah. I should use a torque wrench. I do about the differentials pretty frequently, especially before I raised the axle breathers. (Stock, installed arb cover, hit cover causing leak, high water crossing).
