I finally got most of my little things fixed on the truck so it can now at least be driven.

Current list of repairs performed:

1. Repaired rear hatch fiberglass
2. Installed new rear weather seal
3. New rear latch, lock, and mounting
4. Removed even more stinky old carpet
5. Painted grill and headlight bezels black
6. Removed one shock from all four corners (actually has some flex now, plus a much improved ride)
7. Marlin rear output seal
8. Greased every zerk I could find (less noises and a bit smoother ride)
9. Polished 30 years worth of stains and discoloration off all the glass
10. Repaired worn out window regulators (I know, im cheap)
11. Made an old 50cc piston into my new shift knob (best mod so far)
12. Started work on a new radio/Hvac bezel to replace the oem bezel that is literally falling apart.

Top things I have pending on the list that will never end...

1. Install the Marlin knuckle/bearing kit I have
2. Finish my radio bezel and get the CD player and speakers installed.
3. Fab a rear bumper with a swing away tire carrier, gas cans, and cargo basket.
4. Possibly install a bed storage/sleeping platform.
5. Find a way to make the rear hatch not leak (30yr old glass is bowed out and not sealing on the sides)
6. NEW SEATS, I cant stand the fixed back worn out seats I have now, and everyone on CL selling seats seems to be a massive flake.

Ok, now here is my question about setting up a sleeping/storage platform in the bed. My truck is small, the bed measures 6' long (measured behind front setas) by 40" wide between the inner fenders or 50" wide if I measure above the fenders and is only 33" tall from the floor to the ceiling. Now if I add a platform I will lose about 5" of height and with a max height of 33" its just enough for me to sit up in. Also because the trekker bed has about a 6" fiberglass lip where the tailgate should be I cant really make a drawn system so I guess im limited to something with compartments that open from the top. Just looking for some feedback on this this one.

Also any preferred color for the camper ceiling? I was thinking white herculiner but I also think I may get creative and make a visit to the local fabric store...

Its coming along. Good work. Personally, I would pull out all the old carpet and lay down new pad and carpet, probably in gray. I did that in my '93 PU. The stock blue carpet was nasty. Made a huge difference, and I just used some cheap grade carpet. Same with the rear headliner. Won't need any pad on the headliner obviously, but some good quality contact cement and matching carpet would look real nice.

As for seats. I'd check with some of your local tuner shops. You're in a much larger tuner market than I am here in Utah but I was able to find TONS of Honda civic bucket seats that had been pulled for racing seats at a few of the local tuner shops. The mounting may be slightly different but I used the Civic buckets in my old '93 pickup to replace the stock bench seat. They were great and I think cost me $50. Three of the four holes lined up too, so I only needed to drill one new hole.

As for a sleeping platform, I wouldn't do one that would take away interior height. Seems that opening compartments from the top will be cumbersome especially with gear packed on top. I would consider a just a simple deck carpeted to match that just evens out the rear floor area so you aren't sleeping on a bump where the rear seat is. I would put several tie down on that deck to lash your gear in weatherproof containers like an action-packer or something. When you need to sleep in the back the containers would just have to be pulled out and stashed under the truck or whereever you wanted to put them to open up the platform for sleeping. I'm not sure of a better solution.

Good luck.

Is there still any activity here? I have a Trekker and was looking for more inspiration. The Trekker you have here is really clean, the blue is a nice color.
