Ok ... I'll bite.

Why are so many people swapping over to manual locking hubs?

They are nice, though.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. Google and Wikipedia work wonders.

Reasons (yes I see you checked google and wikipedia):
1) More reliable than auto hubs albeit it's not a reason for a gen II which has no hub locks.
2) Can switch to unlocked which also unlocks the outer axles from the hub. This allows the hubs to turn without turning the inner/outer axles and cv joints which to reduces wear on them.
3) Kinda winging it on this one but... I can disconnect a wheel/hub to isolate it from the rest of the drive train (in the unlikely event that I suffer some kind of damage there).
4) Cause they're cool looking LOL.

Finally got the manual hubs installed today & did some off road testing. It does awesome when 4wd actually works! :ylsmoke:

Not really here
I got the Tuff Pans ones and it seems they are the same as yours cept for the color. Yours have nylon innards as well?

I just checked out pics on Tuff Pans & they are the same. I only paid $140 shipped for mine & I got them the next day since Rugged Ridge is only 30 miles from my house.

I ordered the body lift this morning & am going to be pulling apart the rear axle today to see what needs to be replaced to stop the leaking on my wheels.

The wife had other plans for me so I wasn't able to tear into the rear axle today.

At least I was able to pickup the new rear inner and outer axle shaft seals plus I got a new voltage regulator to stop the lights from flickering. :sombrero:

Finally had a little time to work on the Monty today & took the alternator off to replace the voltage regulator. Replacing the voltage regulator was not as simple as I thought but it is nice having steady light output now (the flickering would drive me crazy when driving in the dark). I also found the little boxing monkey that use to ride on my old Tacoma's bull bar. :D
