2016 JKUR, AKA Dad's MiniVan

I'm very impressed with the '16 on 35's with the 4.10 gears, it's almost like it was made for the buyer who planned to lift and install bigger tires. But I do have one problem, the TPMS sensors don't recognize the jeep as the '16s are on the '10 and vice versa. I'm guessing I'll have to make a trip to the tire shop to get everything swapped around but maybe it's as simple as a reflash at the dealer. I'll have to dig around unless someone knows the answer.

I also have 4.10s, and I agree 100%. I definitely think the gear set was offered explicitly for those who are planning to build the Jeep, which is one of the only options I was looking for in my search (bought used). I found l was way over geared stock, and I actually got a speeding ticket the second day I owned my JK because it was just too much fun blasting up to about 45mph...in a 30 zone unfortunately. It felt perfect to me with the 35s adjusted with the Procal, and now that I'm on a light 37" tire I still feel like it performs very well. My wife took the Jeep yesterday and loved how it drove and thought it had lots of power still (her daily driver is a 2012 Honda Civic however lol). After building mine, I feel like the sweet spot setup for the JKUR is 2.5" lift with 35s or 3.5" with 37s.

Yeah, it no longer feels tiring to drive on the highway. With my 2010 it always felt like a struggle to keep with traffic and not have a 10mph variation in speed. I'd imagine it'll change a little once I install the 3.5" lift but it looks like I'm getting about 4mpg better at highway speeds too.

Those wheels look awesome on the rhino. nice setup.

Thanks. Everything I'm swapping over from the '10 was black so I'll be doing that again on this one. I wasn't sure how it would look as the rhino is really dark but so far I'm diggin it.

What is your rubicon averaging now with the 35' tires. I just traded in on one and am only getting 17.8 stock with a manual and drive mostly highway. I agree it is way overgeared for the stock tires and rarely use 1st gear.

Yeah, Rhino and black look GOOOOOOD! Are you swapping over the hard rock bumper?

Yup, along with an AEV tire carrier. Did that yesterday...

I also had a set of hard rock rails with the added tubing on them that I installed yesterday also. They needed a little cutting at the rear to keep them away from the tires. It's also nice that the newer jeeps don't need the body seam trimmed as its already trimmed from the factory.

Well, I have 162 miles on it total with only about 62 of those on the 35's so I know it's not accurate but it's looking like roughly 16 on the highway where my 2010 was 11.5-12.5. I hope that holds true after the lift and winch/bumper goes on but I'll be happy with 14-15 also.

I get 11.9-12.4 when I do the calculations in the city. No highway at all with those numbers.

So after 4 days of stuffing myself in some of the best restaurants anywhere, we returned from a quick kid free trip to Charleston to find tons of parts waiting on me.

JKS 3.5" lift

I'm more impressed by the packaging than anything else at this moment. Every other lift I've bought has just been thrown in boxes with a bunch of bubble wrap

Also on the doorsteps was the Spod and a set of doorsill guards.

Funny, I looked at the picture before reading your post, and thought the exact same thing.
If the kit is half as good as the packaging, it will be awesome!
I don't have any first hand experience with JKS, but have read some very good stuff about them, and don't remember any negative threads.
Should be really sweet!

Just by holding the track bar compared to the rock krawler one on my 2010 has me thinking it'll be what I had expected it to be.

I also gave my MasterCard some love and ordered up a JCR vanguard full width front bumper, a couple of Rigid dually's and an ARB compressor and everything needed to install it underhood.

You mean the JKS is much stout'er than the RK? I am not a fan of the tubular track bars. They are prone to flex. Can't wait to hear about the JKS lift tho. They make nice gear for sure.

If I were buying a trackbar on its own I'd go with the teraflex forged one for sure. But this one is beefy, I'd be surprised if it flexes at all. My gripe with the RK bar is because of the location of the jam nut, it is not really possible to tighten it on the vehicle if need be which is exactly what I had to do on the trails of Moab. It loosened up somehow even though I had red loctite on it causing a knocking sound in the suspension. The jam nut is blocked by the axle bracket making it impossible to tighten by wrench. I had to use a chisel and hammer to tighten it down leaving the nut pretty rough.

Got the front suspension installed last night. Pretty uneventful but I did have to trim the factory trackbar bracket on the axle slightly in order to fit the new bracket over it. It took me about 4 hours to do the front but that included a break to run out and pick up a new in the box supreme soft top I found on craigs list. If I find time today I'll try to do the rear but I'm helping a friend install a Teraflex Nebo roof rack tonight on his JKUR so we'll see if I get to do much on my own.
