OK, 18seeds, the wiring looks the same as mine, and seems to be OK.
Did you say if yours works at all?
In 120VAC operation, if proper voltage (12V after conversion) is being supplied to the compressor, there should be ~12V between the 2nd-down brown and the two blue wires on the lower-left-hand side of your picture (the brown is high, blue is common).
Only other thing is to check is the back of the digital thermostat controller. Looks this is not as easy to inspect as the others. Definitely would want to unplug the unit if you proceed any more with this. Maybe the unit can be popped out of it's mount somehow? Also, as a first check: with the unit UNPLUGGED of course, you can feel behind the thermostat with your hand (OR a dentist's mirror and flashlight) for loose/dangling wires.
Also, something else I've noticed: on your compressor, the copper tube to the left has a quick connect coupling, probably I guess for re-charging. Mine doesn't have that...it's just a pinched (or capped?) copper tube.

Yes, I got that. That number doesn't work from Canada.
Called EdgeStar this morning (866-319-5473), but there's nothing they can do without the serial number. Completely unhelpful.
I emailed Living Direct, who I purchased the fridge through, and they just handed me straight off to Edgestar.
F for customer service thus far. I'll call back in to EdgeStar tomorrow when I have a serial number.

I spoke to them also. Just make sure you have your serial number.
Did you get anywhere with them?
I checked my fridge out again last night - no loose wires or anything that I could find. When I plug it in to 12v, the temp display comes on, and the fan on the condensor powers up for about a second, then quits again.

I used my 63 qt. for day trips to the beach each of the last three days. I used the fridge during the day (8-10 hrs) and unplugged it at night, carrying the baskets into the kitchen fridge.
The fridge performed flawlessly. I like the fast freeze feature. I would plug the fridge in before breakfast and by the time we were loaded for the day, it would be ready to go.
There are a few things I might improve on the EdgeStar, but it sure beats using an ice chest. I can't really compare it to any other brand as this is the only 12v fridge I have used. But if I had to wait until I could afford an Engel, I'd still be buying ice.
I have mine wired directly to the truck battery -- 30 Amp/10 AWG from the battery to a Blue Sea fuse block; 15 Amp/14 AWG from the fuse block to a heavy duty cigarette lighter style outlet.

Rhino - thanks for the suggestion. For some reason, it escaped me to try it in another vehicle. Our DD Taurus has a 'power outlet' in addition to the 12v cigarette lighter. I plugged the fridge in to the power outlet, and vavoom! compressor fired up. Switched the fridge over to FastFreeze, and the temp started dropping. Hooray I don't have a $300 boat anchor! :wings:
Looks like this was an error on my part all along. Too bad CompactAppliance's customer service is so horrible that I had to find out elsewhere what the minor problem was. Rhino, thank you for your help - I really appreciate it.
Since I'll now have to be adding new power outlets to my Cruiser, what are good ones? I'd like something that comes in both a panel mount and a surface mount, but it doesn't have to be the typical 'cigarette lighter' end. Something with a positive lock would be nice...
mine has been kinda hit and miss in this regard, plugged into the power outlet in the rear cargo area in my xterra (labeled 12v/120w, so it should be able to provide 10A right). it seemed at first to struggle getting the temp down and holding temps. it would bring the temp down if i put it on fast freeze, but not in much of a hurry. it worked fine plugged into 120v AC though and had no trouble holding 35 degrees all weekend.
it seemed to work a bit better later, but still didn't hold temp. i put it on fast freeze, and drove another couple hours, and it got down to 41, at which time i set the temp to 40, and it seemed to do OK holding around there for the rest of the evening, overnight, and through the next day on mostly just 12v with the truck not running. the main difference was that the truck wasn't running, and the cooler wasn't in the sun while the truck was parked or driving down the road.
the cooler has been plugged in in the garage, which gets well over 100 degrees during the day, especially when a hot vehicle is parked in it. i'll probably load up the fridge and go to the beach this coming weekend, and will see how it does then. i have a feeling that the compressor either a) has a contaminated refrigerant charge, and can't keep up when the sun warms the outside of the housing. or b) the voltage or current supplied by the power outlet is not enough to allow the fridge/compressor to keep up or possibly even kick on at times.

I took it directly from the Fed Ex truck and plugged it into a house plug....we have the air conditioning set to 80 degrees.
I set the temperature at 0 degrees on the setting and was curious how quickly the temperature would drop. I randomly recorded temperature and time during a one hour interval. The following are the results:
6:22 - 92 degrees
6:37 - 70 degrees
6:41 - 58 degrees
6:45 - 40 degrees
6:53 - 27 degrees
6:58 - 23 degrees
7:02 - 19 degrees
7:07 - 16 degrees
7:11 - 13 degrees
7:15 - 10 degrees
7:22 - 7 degrees
Granted, I am relying on the Edgestar thermostat for these readings, but regardless, a drop in temp. of 85 degrees in one hour is impressive if you ask me....and this is on the regular setting, not the "Fast Freeze" setting.
After I let a 32 oz powerade bottle filled with water freeze, I will turn it off, open it up and let it get back to room temperature and then retry everything in the tacoma......I may do this on a trip to Prescott to pick up my Flip Pac this weekend....yeeeehaaaawwwwww!
