30 days on the trail - Guess where we went

Are you asking if white people ever lied to the native americans?

Anywho, here is what BLM says:
"Navajo interpretation of Valley of the Gods
rock formations: “Rock formations are places
of power in which spirits reside, and the formations
in Valley of the Gods are some of the most
distinctive. These imposing monoliths are Navajo
warriors frozen in stone, who can be appealed
to for protection. They are guardians
whose power and strength aid young servicemen
going to war.” (From Sacred Land Sacred View
by Dr. Robert S. McPherson, Brigham Young
University.)"

That's the answer I have come up with as well: "Navajo warriors frozen in time". Thank you.

And who knows if even that is true? (BLM has been known to make mistakes :D) I guess my point is, there have been, and still are, plenty of people, places and things that bear the "meaning" of something that is totally unrelated to. (Plymouth Rock, Santa Clause, etc). I just think it's fascinating to hear the different cultural histories, whether they're true or not. So lighten up and let people post up what they believe, unless you were there and know for a fact that that is incorrect. :)

My bad!! I forgot that the Earth and "Valley of the Gods" are only 6000 years old. I just love Judeo/Christian mythologies of Cultural/Racial Superiority over all native American beliefs, stories, and traditions.

The photos will get a little more challenging as this goes on.

Photo one looks down into John's Canyon and the John's Canyon Road with Monument Valley in the far distance. Taken from the Muley Point Road area looking southward. Picture two I have no idea. Picture three is in Natural Bridges NP.

You guys are good :) The little ruin was in a small canyon off of the Johns Canyon Overlook Trail. It was unnamed, but cool to find nonetheless. I read about the trail in Utah Backcountry Adventures by Massey.

I was really impressed with Natural Bridges NP. There are some gorgeous hikes there if you are properly motivated.

30 days on the trail, I've got a ton of photos. I'm limiting this thread to one pic per day :)

Picture one I would say you are going south on the beautiful Comb Wash Road. Picture two I don't know but it sure is pretty.

Comb Ridge is correct, any guesses as to the other one? It's in Utah as well.
