Today my Bilstein 5100s came in. Im hoping to have them mounted up by the end of the week. The build is slow going but it is going... Next is to fab up a bed rack. Has anybody made their own bed rack for a Tundra yet? Curious to see what designs people may have come up with. Also mounted a high lift jack in the bed of the truck. I will try and get pictures of that soon.

Tip for the rear shocks... Easiest way to get the old ones off is to grind a flat spot in the shaft to keep it from spinning so you can get vice grips on it.
I started working on a bed rack for my RTT. Gotta go out of the country for a week but when I'm back I should finish it up pretty quick. Keeping it low, about 10" above the height of the bed. Using 3x3x3/16 angle iron for the bed rails and the frame is 1x2x3/16 box tube. Stout.

The box tube was scrap I cut up from another project. I spent $27 on 10' of angle iron

Super sick 1st gen. Hows the rub on the 285s? I couldn't find if you had lifted it or not? Also, whats the backspacing on the new rims? Thanks in advance and keep it up.

I would rub a little one the front bumper when turning when the struts would compress but nothing major. A little bit of a trim fixed it. I have 2 inch spacer on the front right now so the front sits a little higher but with the new struts I'm hoping it will sit more level now. And I will get the bs on the wheels this afternoon and let you know and thanks for the compliment on the truck. It's slowly progressing.

Thanks dude. Can't wait to start building my 06. Such great rigs and way cheaper than tacos in my area. Still gotta get over the pin stripping from trails, mine was grandpa owned and doesn't have a scratch.

Nothing but sage brush on the trails here in Nevada. Every vehicle here that's goes off road has the custom Nevada Pin Stripping haha. And yes I'm so happy that I bought a Tundra it's the perfect rig.

Um, yes.....it's not for an RTT, but it allowed the truck to carry all of our glamping gear the four of us needed for a week's vacation.

Does anybody know if the roof of the First Gen Tundras has 2 layers of metal or is it just the 1? I bought this gun rack and I'm hoping its two layers so I dont have to drill all the way to the outside of the cab to mount it, instead I can you some self-tapping screws and keep it looking clean.

5100s Installed
Finally after having them sitting in the garage for about 3 weeks I finally have my Bilstein 5100 installed. I am so pleased with how they ride!
A huge difference. My old shocks and struts were completely shot. They had absolutely no return at all. Also I have pictures of my Hi-Lift installed in the bed of the truck.
