So i have just read this post from start to finish. I have to say, amazing build. I have been searching for a square body burb to build, yours is fantastic!

I wrapped this up tonight. Eventually I'll add mounts for gas cans, propane tank, and the hilift but for now it's done.
I've still got other things to do before heading off to Moab for a week, 5 days away.

Thanks chilli!

We took the dogs up to Kolob Reservoir in southern Utah over the weekend. We were looking for some cool fall colors but found ourselves a week or two late... Down around Zion the colors were vibrant and beautiful but up at 8000' the aspens had already dropped their leaves for the year.

Being Halloween, the dogs were showing off their new costumes. Roxy was a turtle, Zoey a bumblebee and Hank makes a convincing skunk.

Daisy got to play in a little bit of mud, the water was high this year. Last year we parked near the rocks in the background on the peninsula that is now an island.

One thing that I need to change about the suburban is the gas pedal. My ankle cramps up after 3-4hrs of driving. As a result, my wife drove part of the way home. She looks good behind the wheel of my truck.

Last weekend Daisy and I cruised out to Logandale to check out the Vegas Valley 4 Wheelers 34th annual Hump N Bump. I was supposed to be out there at 7am for a drivers meeting to run a trail with them but I've been sick so that didn't happen. I cruised out there a little later to spectate and visit with friends. Daisy got to play in the sand for the first time, it was fun!

Then I saw that missile test fire on the way home, out in the desert on a back road with no other cars around for miles. I freaked out! Haha!

is that a rubber pad on the bumper under where the latch is?

did you get all the bumper build parts from Ruff Stuff?

and how it the world did you figure out that the baffling had killed the fuel pump? no way you knew that immediately.

It's Delrin, a high density plastic.

Yep.

Dropped the tank and looked inside to find the baffle sitting sideways in there and the pump dangling by the wires. I knew immediately that I had lost fuel pressure, I've heard and felt that happen before. Didn't know about the baffle til I dropped the tank.

Awesome rig! I'm going to borrow some ideas for my upgrades on my '89, which is more or less the Daily Driver and Side Adventure Rig, so I'm keeping most things stock on the suspension and engine, but do like the little things you did!

Mighty fine looking rig there Mr Diesel! I love your dog costumes and I can only agree that your wife looks good behind the wheel. Great looking shots of you guys out on your quads. Looks like fun! Cheers, Chilli...:):)

You sure have had your share of fuel pump problems. You think it has been the loose baffle causing it?
Suburban is looking great, keep posting updates and trips. Paint by summertime?

I don't think the baffle caused all my issues but it definitely had a part in the last issue out of the trail.
Thanks man, I'll keep the updates coming.
I'd love to have it painted by summer, hoping I can make that happen.

Here's a small update for you guys. I got some new bump stops for the front end, what a huge improvement! The old poly ones only compressed 1/2" or so, these compress about 2" and are softer.
I had to build new spacers to bolt them onto the truck, using what I had laying around I came up with these.

The only way to tell if they're working is to go out and use them! So I stuck my GoPro to the inner fender and took her for a spin. You can barely tell when you hit these things, no more harsh bang when I bottom out. Some guys have been using Timbrens for a while now and Timbren recently caught on and started marketing their parts to be used as bump stops. I've talked to guys using both on different rigs and they all say these work just as well. The cool part is that these are $18/ea on Amazon. For the cost involved (a grand total of $49) I'm thrilled with them.
