Glad it was what you needed!

You take as many ideas as you need! I stole many of mine from the place as well :D Let me know if you have any more questions.
Love the old Toyota btw! Let me know the updates when you get done.

I will keep you updated on the money pit for sure. I got a build thread on here a few pages back. Got real slow with all the farm work going on this time of year. Once that lets up it will be full swing back into getting it going. Till then it will sit in the yard waiting its turn.

Did you notice much difference in road noise after the insulation you added? Did you do the doors as well?

I did the doors as well...it was a little aggravating to get the door panels back on with the extra thickness of the insulation but managed to finally get it put back together and there was a for sure a noticeable difference with road noise. You still hear it some but its not bad at all...I mean, it is still a 96 tacoma...lol. I will say this though, when you first get in it and shut the door you definitely get the uncomfortable silence until you crank it up... Thanks for checking out my build. Let me know if I can answer any more questions.

Beautiful rig! What state are you in? I'm beginning work on my 03 Tacoma and am starting to think about how to build a rack that goes up and around my truck cap for my RTT. Beginning welder here, so it will be a learning experience for sure! What size was the metal used in your rack and how much did it weigh in the end?

Thanks! I'm in NC. The material I used was 1 1/2" square tubing 1/8" thick. I'd say it probably weighs around 50-75 lbs. This is totally a guess. I know that while I was moving it around to paint, I rember thinking it wasn't heavy at all. Hope this helps!

yurtdweller,

Tacoverlander built a rack for my old rig that went over a camper shell that would work for a RTT. I will get a picture posted here over the next day or two for you. We used the bed stake pockets and a piece of 1/4' plate as a foundation to bring it around the shell, then 1.5" tubing to build the rack. Maybe a pic will help... will get one asap.

It's called tactical acquisitions, not stealing lol. Loving your work man. I'm truly inspired

Your truck is very simple, capable, and epic. Amazing work. Wish I had a garage to work on mine. Thanks for sharing and I have made a bookmark of this build to come back to. Cheers, safe travels.

Thanks climber-420, Glad you like it! You can't go wrong with simple... Less chance of having to fix something on the trail. I do look to upgrade a few things around the first of the year such as the gearing, extra lighting, and a simple budget friendly dual battery setup.

Quick DIY Cup holder

Well, I got tired of my drinks bouncing the original flimsy cup holder out of the dash when out on a trail. Not to mention my coffee cup doesn't fit in the original one. :coffeedrink: You'll do some pretty random stuff to accommodate your favorite coffee cup....So, I took a couple of hours and some scrap materials I had laying around the shop and made a simple cup hold that I think is going to work pretty swell.
