Thanks guys! There is also some room under the right rear seat where the jack is, though I think only a 6 circuit block would fit, might be a little tight for a 12. Top of the firewall in the engine compartment would be a great place too, but to me half the reason for the block is to limit the wires going through the firewall (and hence leaving a hole to later become a fire hose in water crossings, ask how I know!) so that's why I put it inside.

Only thing I want to improve on is insulation at the terminals, both on the breaker and the block. Not sure what the best option is that will still enable me to remove things if I need. Probably just make them all a little more permanent and use the spray on electrical tape?

Wired up an Engel Posi Lock in the factory cigarette lighter position. I tryed to fit it in so I could have both plugs, but due to the body panels behind the plastic there, that position is the only place with room behind for the long plugs. Maybe I will eventually squeeze the cig plug in next to it if I can find a way to mount it.

Mounted an old WWII shovel on the window sill in the rear. Got this idea from Weezerbot and her flashlight (I'll be putting a mag light in the same spot as her too :snorkel I did this because I don't feel it necessary to carry a full size shovel around all the time, but I do want this along all the time, and don't want it just loose.

Small update for the night:

Installed a ScangaugeII and made a little bracket to mount it to the dash (you can also see my thermometer peaking out left of the steering column).

I also installed a Tacoma Safari Snorkel. Here is a pic of it soon as I finished. I will do a write up later when I have more time and am not so tired.

Oh! Forgot to mention I also put on some new tires (from an ExPo member). 235x85R16 BFG AT's. The Sonoran Steel 1.2 lift is sitting in the living room (much to my room mates chagrin) awaiting the front coils on Friday! :wings:

I got the Front Runner from Paul at Equipt. I think my rack is almost identical to yours (think I looked at buying yours?). I went with this one because it was supposed to be narrower (48") then yours, but as it turned out it's pretty much the same dimensions (55") as yours is/was.

P.S. The template for the snorkel doesn't fit the 4Runner perfectly. I will expound on this more when I do my proper write up, but it is easy to get around.

I got the Sonoran Steel lift installed quite a while ago, but have been quite lazy in posting the few test pictures I took the day I installed it.

I am very pleased with the ride quality of this setup. It rides almost as well as a Cadillac but with far better off road performance. The one thing I need to change are the 10mm bolts that hold the fender flare in place. One in particular sticks out and at full stuff on the left side it catches the tire lugs and makes for some horrid noises (though fairly harmless).

I have some lighting mods in the mail...LED dome lights and some LED strip lights to go under the hood and on the rear hatch. After that, my next major projects are going to be to get off my but and install the HAM, and also to make a table for the rear.

The table is going to be 1.5' deep by 3' wide, and will fit over the rear bumper with cables going to the outer corners almost identical to a trucks tailgate. When stored (the reason for the dimensions) the table will be attached to the hatch so that it swings up and is completely out of the way. :coffeedrink:

Thanks! I'm really liking these tires. I got this size only because I got an awesome deal on them and I didn't want to re-gear. Now that I have them though, I love em! Their plenty big enough, a re-gear might still be nice, but definitely not necessary, and I'm really liking the look of that size in the wheel well. :sombrero:

Heading out right now to replace the winch solenoids and put a roller fair lead on there. Tomorrow, if I don't forget today, I'm going to get the parts to finish my Snorkel install (non-power antenna and Tacoma Intake). :snorkel:

I have a 2001 sr5 with the fat flares so it was a bit different than you have but also had that same annoying bolt head grabbing the tire lugs. It actually started to cause some damage to the tires so I ended up just removing the bolt. Havn't needed to replace it.

What kind of cross bar are you using at the front of the rack? It looks nice and low, which is where I want the rack to sit. How tall are the spacers you needed? I am thinking of building a full length rack and need an additional crossbar option. Thanks.

If this is for your '02 4Runner (well, all 3rd Gen 4Runners actually), Yep--Tacoma snorkel: ARB p/n Part Number SS170HF. And you also need the Tacoma intake tube that is inside the fender (replaces the 4Runner one that's in there). Its part number 53807-35020. Supposedly some of the earlier years 3rd gens had the same tube already...but your '02 won't.

You also have to do something about the power antenna if you have it. The most popular thing to do is to pull the power antenna out and replace it with a non-electric assembly and a whip style antenna. I read one other thing where a guy flipped his power antenna around or something. I pulled out that crappy electric antenna assembly and went with the Tacoma whip antenna. Works great for me. Antenna Assembly is part number 86300-35090, Tacoma Whip antenna part number is 86309-AA040. The antenna assembly comes with a silver antenna so you don't need the tacoma whip unless you want a black whip antenna.

Other than that, it fits right up and it didn't seem much different than other snorkel installs and that ExpeditionsWest link is A+++++ so def check it out.
