Anybody running fox 2.5 with longer coil?

On the Tundras the 6112 springs are a non standard diameter. And they are 600 lb too, same as the TRD Pros. Very good shock for the money IMO, but coil swapping isn't possible AFAIK. Maybe Tacomas are different.

Actually the 6112s come with a standard 14" long, 3" ID, 600lb Eibach coil spring painted black. Any 3" ID Eibach, King, Icon etc spring should work on the 6112s. I have the 6112s on my 1st Gen Tundra Double Cab and I can tell you from first hand experience the 600lb coils are not enough for the truck. I plan to swap out to a set of 14" 700lb Eibachs or possible 16" 700lb Eibachs soon...cheers

Apparently not on the 2nd gen Tundra 6112s, they are 15.25" long and 3.4" ID. But maybe they are on the Tacoma if the 1st gen has standard springs.

Good point...didn't realize we were talking about two different generation of Tundra's. It's odd that Bilstein would use a non-standard coil on the 2nd Gen Tundra 6112s given the standard coil size they use for the 1st Gen Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runners, etc..

Does seem to be some sort of unique set up to Bilstein.

(that's the Professional Engineer in me, when you stamp stuff for a living you make absolutely sure)

Hey Dave, can you stamp off on this drawing for me real quick? You don't need to check my calculations, they all added up...I promise. And yes, this drawing is scaled to 1/128". :sombrero:

(I wasn't aware of the frame rust issue when I bought it and it did not qualify for replacement since I'd started modifying it)

That sucks and is typical stealership behavior.

They really aren't as strong as the old ones. Although I feel the frame on the 2nd gen may have been improved, I don't have any documentation (that's the Professional Engineer in me, when you stamp stuff for a living you make absolutely sure) that proves it can tolerate overloading any more than the 1st gen.
I don't have any experience with the first gens or previous year models so I can't comment on that.

I'm not flush with cash (which I guess makes me unqualified to drive off highway, right?)
Can't fault me for providing a little common sense. :sombrero: My mother gave me a great piece of advice when I got my driver's license, "you can speed if you can afford it".

If we still have vehicles that we can drive anyway.
Truth. Although, I'm not gonna lie and say that I'm not looking forward to taking a nap on the way to work or on the way back home in the future.

I'm just trying to keep the rust at bay in the mean time and that's not easy. I've wire wheeled just about every weld from the coil buckets back this summer knocking off loose paint and refinishing it.

That's what I do as well. It's part of my yearly maintenance on the truck.
