Thanks, hope to get them dirty tomorrow although it's supposed to be really cold tonight and for the next few days. I may end up staying by the fire and reading!

Where you heading? Do you tour around the Hidden Valley area much? That's the only place I've wheeled around your area.

Nice looking tires Dave. How do you feel about the sidewalls? I have read some say they seem on the soft side.

Are you talking about the Hidden Valley area that's around Hammaker Mtn. and has access via a CA county rd. right over the CA/OR border? If so, that is the area I spend a lot of time at. My wife and I own some acreage out there which we are getting ready to build a off the grid house on. Tons of trails and roads out there. It's a cool place. My brother in law is here from NY and we are going out tomorrow, hopefully, to show him our property.

Well, I really don't have that many miles yet, and I have read the negatives about the sidewalls, but from a daily driving aspect, I haven't found, or felt, any difference from the BFG/AT's regarding that issue. I'll keep you posted, and it will interesting testing them aired down, off-road.

I think that's the place but I'm not sure. Is it as you head out of town towards Lakeview and then cross that little bridge? That's really cool about your "off the grid" project. My wife and I are jealous!!

No I just looked it up, it's not the same place. You're over by Keno right?

Yes, it is over by Keno way. I have to look up the place you mentioned. I haven't been there before.

We've been planning this house for a long time. Still a couple of years away, but we are excited.

Did a little drive out there today to look things over. Man, was it cold. Not much snow yet, but it's starting pretty good now, just as we got home. Had my wife take a quick snap before she froze!

Yea, please keep regular updates on the new shoes. I have seriously been eyeing these and the MTR's. I like the Duratrac concept, they seem to fit my needs perfectly. I just want to be sure the sidewalls can handle the rocks around here.

A little update on the tires.

Had a few inches of snow the day before yesterday, but the big thing was the icy road conditions. It's been about 22 and below for most of the day and I can say that the tires work extremely well on the roads in these conditions.

My opinion only, and this is only really the first time in these conditions, but after three winters on BFG/AT's, I feel these tires beat them hands down. When it's icy out, I usually have to put it in 4WD to get up my driveway, and I usually slide out when mounted with the AT's. Made it out without sliding and went up several times today in 2WD. I attribute that to the siping probably. Much more substantial than the AT's. Different tread pattern of course too. Another problem I had with the AT's was the rear sliding when taking off from a stop in icy road conditions (2WD). No problem what so ever yesterday and today with the DuraTracs. There are also a couple of steeper roads I go up to get to one of my rental properties which I have been working at. If it's icy or has packed snow, 4WD with the AT's, yesterday and today, 2WD with the DuraTracs.

I am very pleased so far. I'm waiting for more severe weather. We will have icy roads again tomorrow, as the forecast is for about 0 degrees, but no snow in the forecast.

I'm running about 32 psi, with minimal weight in the back. Just some hand tools.

I'll keep you posted.

New fogs

Thanks to Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters for the parts. Finally got the fog light kit installed in my ARB bumper. A little plasma cutting and angle grinding and it came out great. Will be installing the wiring to an OEM switch. Sorry for the bad pic. I think the parts were like 80 bucks.

I think I'll be ordering that kit. Looks like you did a nice job!

Thanks. I also wanted to thank Marc Bowers from ARB USA for sending me the template that was used to make the cutout on the new bumpers.

If you would like a copy, let me know, and I'll email it to you. It's in pdf format.
