Thanks. 3.5 SC set up. I have heard that the 2.5 spring rate isn't as stiff so if it's loaded up it'll sag a bit more? Not sure where I heard that, but I did talk with a rep from AEV and mentioned the plan (approx 1000 lbs extra on the vehicle) with bumpers winch et al. that the 3.5 was better suited for it. All I need is bigger brakes now!
I did do the mopar flaps. They are ok. They are more durable than I thought, dragged them through (winched out of) about 30 ft of 3 ft frozen mud and they were fine. On road, still get quite a bit of spray, but better than before. the front handles usually are clear of crud now unless it's really mucky on the roads. Could be better but no perfect solution it seems.
This is really handy, since you're essentially following my wish list. Everything down to the color of the Jeep, the black J30 with white roof, lift, wheels, tires... literally everything. Awesome.
Been out ice climbing and not posting! A couple of short videos of some sketchy river crossings in -20C. Seen some damage on a few vehicles that day. So far loving the AEV setup on this rig! Oh, and camping in the J30 has been quite plesant. A couple fixes (minor) are needed to make it simpler like Velcro on the access panels and the cushions so it's one less thing to do every time you get in/out.
-20C... My fingers cramp up just thinking about that...
You sure made that look easy. :smiley_drive:
Beautiful area you guys were traveling through. Years back a buddy of mine and I took our dirt bikes up into the Sierras for a snow ride. The whole day was like riding through a post card. Blue sky, big trees covered in snow, crisp clear air and the crunch of fresh snow under the tires.
Winter is an awesome time to enjoy the outdoors. :wings:
Time for an update. Lots of traveling since January including a trip to Montana to visit a friend and import some swag from the US, and a 2 week trip to Moab. I have since added some additional lights up front on the A-pillar to illuminate the ditch, a reverse light on the AEV tire carrier and a CB radio. Put in the AT propane tank on the outside, and their internal storage rack as well. Lastly, a tail gate table from Springtail solutions with quick fists for a small hatchet.
I ended up by beefing up the front steering assmebly to a full synergy set up as well, found that the stock set up gave me mad death wobble. Synergy has been good so far. Overall, I am loving this vehicle, and cannot wait to put the awning on, but that will likely be next summer. A couple of pics below:
