Conqueror trailer battery charging questions

That is a good idea, I was just planning on unplugging the trailer, but sometimes I am forgetful and this could help me in a jam.
Three guesses about I learned about those.!!!

There are way cooler, more automagic devices that do the same thing, but they start at roughly 3 times that price and go up from there.

How to?

So this last weekend we were in a campground with full service and I plugged in the power cord to run all the lights, fan, fridge. Well the battery is completely dead now, so I must have the switches wrong.

Does anyone know the switch on/off positions when running on shore power?
PS if my red top optima doesn't recharge, what did y'all re[place your betteries with?

looks right to me. I ran mine in my garage for a week that way when putting in my lights in the tent and there was no battery at the time and that was the only configuration that worked. Still doesn't seem like it should drain the battery since you should be able to charge the battery from the wall, or so I thought.

I put a deep cycle marine battery in today and ran a charge wire through the seven pin adapter. I think that it should work well for now. I just have lights and hopefullye a fridge in the future.

That's how mine is, from the yellow top in the Jeep to the 7 pin RV, with a 40amp breaker in between.

Of course, right now I only have lights, and an inverter (400W that I haven't found a use for yet:ylsmoke:)

I also have 1000W inverter hardwired in the Jeep, for running the grinder/charging battery's/laptop/etc.

I need to get one of those Cole-Hersee things, as I have forgotten to unplug the trailer a few times:Wow1:

Switches

Thanks XJBANKER,

The charger switch does turn on the charger, but I never use it since there is no way to prevent it from over charging I was told. It was raining all night when it stopped working but after charging with the Battery Tender (for just a short bit), it started to work when I got home, but the battery is dead now.

That was what I was asking, I thought if it was plugged in, the battery was isolated and I was just using the shore power....???

This is the one time I wished I had an owners manual!

When I was on shore power I had all the switches turned on.
I use my meter to get the battery to 13.2 volts after it rests for a while.

all switches on if the isolator is off then my other switches or outlets wont work ?

also some SA people told me the unit can stay plugged in 24/7 and not over charge

also note I burnt my system up this last week !!! like smoke pouring out burnt !!!!

my fan had been making noises so I was going to replace them when I got back this week and hooked up my genie as I usually do and the genie starts to sound like its out of gas ? I look at the trailer and smoke was pouring out !!!! and the breaker threw itself but still smoked like mad ? not sure the damage yet will get to it after I get caught up with work this week I hope and decide what to do

I have posted this before some of the OZ and SA guys suggest using anderson plugs and heavy cable to charge
they put a plug on the back of the rig and front of the trailer then use a section or pigtail in between the two
this way you can tow for short distances and not hook up your charging system if you want and also if charging and if the cable while in tow gets hooked on something it wont rip anything out just unplugs itself ? not a bad idea really

I heard....

nightmare! Let us know what happened/caused it!

Dean told me when I picked up my trailer the charger could not be left on forever, it would over charge!

sounds like conqueror customer service even for people in SA sucks pretty bad ?

noticed a person answered Xjbanker in the SA site that it was OK ? I also posted response but for those with a conqueror its a good site

I am pretty sure it was the fans that failed and it over heated ? but yeah for sure will post up what I find out :)

Guys:
I have noticed a couple of things:

My battery has a battery bug on it to show charge level. (more on that later).
Leaving the battery charging is not overcharging the battery, especially if you leave your fridge on pulling a small draw on it while it is at home attached to shore power.

Optimas do not work well for this system (for what ever reason). I have always understood that the Optimas are not great for a charge/discharge set up.
I would consider the Die Hard Platinum (same manufacturer as Odyssey) with Sears Replacement Warranty!

Thanks
D

Charging questions v2

So I am in the last days before my 3 week trip to Nova Scotia and PEI

My Conqueror battery appears to be dead and I am replacing it asap... now I realize that my first week will be camping without electric service, so I am thinking of how to charge the battery while I drive.

I have a aux power outlet I installed in the bed of my truck to run my fridge. Could I just run wire for a plug in that to the trailer's battery while I drive?

Could I plug in my inverter and use my battery tender charger? Is that safer?
If needed, should I pull the battery and place it in my truck's bed with the above set-up? I assume I would need to make some kind of tie down or box for that to be safe...

We do not use a lot of juice while camping... just a fan at night and the 12v light in the tent as we turn in, so it may not even be needed, but my idea seemed easy as a back-up idea....

ps Dendy, I was wrong, I do have a Panasonic in the trailer, I am getting it tested today! Let me know what you ended up with!
