Looks like my battery just took priority... A quick search here looks like the Sears Platinum is popular. Haven't purchase a battery in a while. Optima yellow top was popular back then, Any other thoughts/feedback on what others are using?

The Plat is a very good one, and that is what I will install once my factory one (July 2006) dies.
My second battery is an Optima Red Top.
The bracket for it though will only accept Optimas.

But yes, the Plats are very nice.

so what exactly did you do with the lights?

I could use better lighting on my truck. Are these just different light bulbs or did you actually install a full HID system with ballast and all?

Also did you mean 6000K? 600K seems really low.

Hey OndrejT100,

Yes, sorry the Lights are a full HID set 6000k with ballast and all. The kit was installed purchased/installed by local stereo shop. Compared to my fogs, there is a big difference in color/light. The fogs obviously have a different purpose.

Yes, I keep hearing about biting the bullet and go with full replacement leaf packs. Do you know if there any other options besides Deavers or Alcans? The issue I anticipate is that both are made custom, so I would hate to order the wrong configuration (too high or not enough lift). Maybe I'm complicating this more than it is?
Can someone provide details as what to order?

My Deavers were purchased to compliment the 2.5" lift on the front. They were ordered as an + 600 lbs capacity 11 leaf pack with 2.5" of initial lift with an expected settled height of 2". They were also fitted with the Baja bushings. As my truck is mostly set up for work and it hauls and tows on the heavy side a majority of the time this spring set up has worked great. The springs did settle to the expected height just like the guys at Deaver had planned. When contacting any of the spring companies tell them all you can about what lift height you want, how you plan on using your truck, what weight you figure your final set-up will be and so on. They can help you spec your springs out to match your truck. Hope that helps.

Battery Mod (replacement)

So I shopped around today looking online and locally for a replacement battery. Ended up at Sears and picked up a Group 35 Platinum battery. Looks like my old one had a little corrosion going on, so removed the old one, clean up the area and tray and installed the Sears Diehard.

Truck fired right up after the install, however I notice that the top round cap (for lack of a better word) that is on the alternator stopped spinning (see marked up pic). I realize this has nothing to do with the battery, but got me thinking is my alternator going out? Drove to local auto parts shop and had a gal come out with a handheld tester., check out ok. I wasn't too convince that she knew how to used the device.

Does anyone have any feedback on this., maybe the alternator is going bad and the reason why my old battery was not charging up? Either way, I think the replacement battery is good especially with all the extra load that that it will see in the near future (lights, winch, etc..)

A little more progress

Got lift, wheels and tires on order., so while I wait for those to come in, I decided to start working on the air compressor project. Had most of the stuff from my old Taco.
I cleaned up the compressor and tank, a little sanding and a fresh coat of paint on tank and I was good to go. I would say most of the time was spent figuring out where to mount the compressor and tank. Did a little search over on Tundra Solutions and found a solution for the compressor. I used (2) 5" hose clamps per side, so total of (4) to secure the tank. Clearance was pretty tight between the dual TRD exhaust tubing and spare tire.
The compressor was mounted inside the frame rails on the passager side. Drill a few holes and some grade (8) hardware and I was good to go.

The tank is from extremeAire as well. Specs: 4 gallon with (5) 1/4" ports. Will put in a drain valve, 125psi pressure switch, Air in (from compressor), plug and Air Out to a T fitting that will branch out to the front and rear of the truck, with quick disconnects mounted to a future ARB bumper and rear tow hitch area.

Will be ordering some quick connect hose, misc fittings and relay on Monday and again will be waiting for parts to come in. On my Taco, I had installed an air pressure gauge with a knob to reduce pressure (if need be). Had this installed on one of the bed pockets. I would like something similar, but since there is no pockets on Tundra, I may simply put a gauge inside the cab? Lastly, I have nice switch with the compressor symbol that I'll be installing., again no many empty slots for additional switches on the Tundra.

Anyone care to share any ideas/pictures for the pressure gauge install location and switch location(s) in general for your lights, compressor, winch etc...?

Got lift, wheels and tires on order.

So what brand/size did you decide to go with?

I love the air compressor. We have one on the Land Cruiser and a viair on the tundra. No gauges or anything though, just a simple pump with pressure switch.

I went with 28575R16 Toyo MTs with Raceline 16x8 wheels. Yeah, the compressor is good, I had on my old Taco for while used it for work and play.

Yeah, not much room for anything on the dash of the tundra. I have my non stock fog lights wired to a switch in a blank left of the column (where jim has his lightning bolt, below). I have my brake controller where the ashtray was, but a small CB would fit there too. My 2m is on a custom bracket above my right knee, in the parking brake pocket. 20 years ago, I rewired the maplights in our Aerostar for the right swish to operate both lights, availing the left one as a spare.

My compressor (which is currently under the hood, but I'm going to move it under the bed soonish) is switched on at the dash. My Tundra had a blank button next to the heated mirror switch. I bought another (Not sure from where) mirror switch (at least I think that's what it was, I'll have to try to look it up) and used it as the compressor switch

The switch to the right of the dimmer switch is just a WalMart automotive switch and it powers my (now not working) backup camera

Got a few more compressor install parts in today, power wiring, relay, circuit breaker, fittings, air hose, replacement foam filter (forgot to maintain the last one, so it's toast. :sombrero:) Hoping to get this done this weekend!!
