If you want to put anything on the roof remember the Jeep doesn't have one so you'll be needing a heavy, noisy and expensive external rack.
IMHO while a 4runner is way more refined and way more practical, I found driving one on the road to be boring beyond belief so I'd get the Jeep anyway.
Is an Xterra off the list?

Good point. My 12 year old son actually just told me the same thing. My RTT is right now on my trailer, but depending on the trip it would be nice putting it back on the roof.grahamfitter said:
I am not a big fan of the Xterra, even though it has one of the nicest V6 available (my wife drives a Maxima with the same engine). It also has no sunroof, which is also one of the big cons against the FJC.

We ALWAYS look for good people, especially for engineering and production. However, no position open that would come with company car. I vote 4 Runner...
Fj: probably the most capable out of the box (excluding the Rubicon version of the JK) but man the blindspots drive me nuts.
JK: meh... it's neat to have a removable top, but there's no good engine option(unless Jeep finaly offers it with the CRD).
The Runner is a good solid truck whose base motor is better than the 3.8 in the Jeep. Plus I'll bet you and your comapny will apreciate the reliability of the Toyota.

No way, Swiss. If your income depends on selling, and you sell to women who wear dresses or skirts to work, you want the LOWEST vehicle you can drive so ingress/egress is least complicated in business attire.
I vote for the most vanilla, commonly seen vehicle in your list. The 4Runner. It ain't low, but at least it's just a "regular ol' SUV."
Anything that projects an image of any kind of behavior or lifestyle will be subject to positive or negative opinions from your clients. Guess why so many sales people for corporate America drive plain, white sedans.
If you're directing a sales team for your company, you already know that, though.

It is really boring to drive all the way from SoCal to Moab, only stopping for gas and arriving fresh and unfatigued, and with gas money left in my wallet... It is truly terrible to be able to have a non-shouted conversation or listen to the radio at a reasonable volume.........:bike_rider:

I think the 4runner is a great vehicle and does everything really well. Its quiet, comfy, refined and big enough for two people to sleep in comfortably. If it didn't have this intangible Camry like boringness to it I'd seriously consider buying one. Its big sister Sequoia feels the same way although its fun playing with the radar cruise control on the interstate!
The TJ is brutal to drive any significant distance but it appears I'm a sucker for punishment! Fortunately my 16 year old girl has her sights on it and will probably end up with it in a couple of years and 200K miles. Then I'll be in the same situation of choosing a replacement vehicle and y'all can laugh at me when I say the 4runner is still the most sensible choice then I buy something else that's way less useful but isn't boring. :smiley_drive:
