I would love to do a 73-79 F150 shortbed 4x4 with a 4bt. Keep the stock np435, np205, D44 front, and 9" rear. Keep the gearing the stock 3.54s and bolt on some 37s under no-lift with lots of artful trimming. The gearing would be pretty dang good for the diesel then, even without the overdrive.

94-98 P-pump engines are my favorite....the 91.5-93 rotary pump engines are just as good under 300hp.

You are the guy to do the F150 swap 'n trim!

As far as engine choice, I think you are bang on with any p-pumped 12 valve being the best 5.9. I also agree on the reg cab long box power wagon, as my 3 kids come with 12 paws, and thus can ride in the camper!

haha. You don't even want to see my design journals. I literary have 2200+ pages of design ideas for stuff. I enjoy building different stuff, I don't know if I have the patience to make it look all perfect. It's always been about function for me for the most part.

We've come almost full circle. I recall looking at the D100 in '78 when Dodge introduced their first diesel. It only lasted 2 years in the market though. :(

It would be nice to get the 5.0L in a PW, but honestly, who is going to pop 60K for a truck? The new PW I've seen are over 50K, and most diesel options packages start at 8K. I would have never even considered buying one at 50K, let alone 60K...
