Dual Battery System, 1997 FZJ80

Needs to get out more
Started the dual battery setup in my rig this weekend. I have the National Luna system, battery, and everything else needed, with the exception of the cigarette lighter plugs for the cargo area.

I began the install by relocating the washer bottle using the Slee kit
($47.00). The install is very straightforward, even for a novice like me. I think the hardest part was soldering the wire extensions on for the washer pump.
A friend ordered the second battery tray for me (we are both doing the same system) through "CruiserDan" on IH8MUD. It required some modification to fit, but the holes are already there to bolt it right into the fender.
I purchased a Kirkland Signature Deep Cycle battery from Costco for around 85.00 to use as the second battery.
[For what it's worth, I ran my 35 qt. Engel for a week off of the battery, while it was sitting in the back of my car, and it kept the food nice and cold, between 31-37 degrees]

As it stands now, I have the washer bottle relocated and the second battery tray installed. This weekend I will get the National Luna installed, and drive around daily with cold drinks ready to go! I will post pictures of the progress...

Could you take some pictures of the national luna dual battery setup. I can't find any detailed shots on the 'net.

When my good friend Chris helps me out with the install, I will take step by step photos...It appears to be a really nicely made kit.

If I can get my hands on Grandma's 2000 LX470 with under 20k miles, it really will be your wife's rig...

Kurt,
More detailed pics would be appreciated.
Trying to do a dual set up for my FJC
THx.

What would you like a picture of? The National Luna system is just the controller base, it doesn't include a second battery mount. In fact that is really the hardest part of the conversion, the wiring and setup IMO is the fun part. Moody has it easy with the 80 Series, its as easy as a stop to the dealership and relocating your washer bottle (such as with the Slee kit). Mount the Luna intelligent solenoid (~6" x 6") and fish the controller into the cab (~1/2" hole needed). Then, using the supplied cables and fuses, connect it all. I build my own cables in some cases, rather than using the standard "clamp" style battery terminals, however the kit comes with high quality terminals and cable. LMK on the pics...

I happen to know Roger doesn't have any pics of a National Luna battery system, in any stage of install ;)
10-4 that one. (My kit is sitting in Kurt's garage with my name on it [literally])

Kurt, you can get Luna products? Do you have pricing on their battery monitors? I'd like to hook one up to my dual batt system. Their site doesnt show pricing... plus they're in Africa.
