I like the idea of your roof rack. I might have to steal that. Really not using the roof basket and if I could just mount some stuff horizontally on my cap that would make me pretty happy gaining some mpgs back.

I was trying to explain this basket idea to my brother the other day. Glad I am not crazy and it will work.

I'm digging the little flat rack a lot more than the yakima basket it replaced, it's really solid.
Sweet! Any rubbing issues?
None at all. The are on the shorter side for this size at 32.8. The two issues I'm having with them is that the spare is shifting around, got to drop it and see what's going on there. Also they love to pick up a lot of gravel and of course my driveway at home is gravel.

Tires look awsome. Just wish there were some more options in that size.
My fab shop in town raves about those DCs. Love to hear about them after some miles.

Thanks man. The rack is US Rack truck cap rack. I did shorten the legs which was pretty easy because it bolts together.

Great build! Between WreckDriver, BijanJames and you - I think I'm leaning more and more towards a Fronty for my Overlander build! Lack of aftermarket and information compared to the Tacoma, 4Runner and Wrangler had me a bit wary and the bed rack solution is the last thing to hold me up. My only answer was either the Leitner system at nearly $2K or local fabrication.

The Truck Cap Rack seems like a good compromise, could you describe "where" you trimmed off those few inches off the vertical supports. And does it affect the geometry with the top brackets? I wouldn't think so as you could slide the vertical supports closer together, but I want confirm this. My ideal height would be either flush with the cab roofline or slightly below as I plan on NOT ordering the "Luxury Package" and it's associated roof rack with crossbars.

Thanks!

Thanks. I just trimmed off the top of the legs and drilled new holes for the bolts, this will bring the feet slightly closer. The brackets dictate the angle of the legs.

So a few months ago I changed the diff fluid and this came out with it...

Spider gear tooth, guess it's pretty common to break these on the earlier gen 2's. Truck has been driving fine, I get a little knock turning hard right if the axle flexes. Still has me worried to wheel it though, actually had to decline a day trip because I didn't want to be "that guy". After a bunch of hand wringing on replacement options I decided to K.I.S.S. and ordered the updated stock replacement (and a little bling)

Truck is going into the shop on Monday. I've been meaning to go to this particular shop since we moved out to the area, guy has a great reputation for 4x4 drive train stuff and fabrication.

Always nice to find out while doing routine maintenance rather than on the trail! How are you liking your new tires? I'm getting the 255 bug....

Yeah, truck hasn't been giving me trouble but if more of those teeth go...
I'm digging the new tires so far, only have put about 5k on them. They're still running a lot quieter than the last set. I've had them in a little bit of serious mud and they handled it great.

Hi E.J. ! Nice truck you have there ! I think that the issues you had with your Forester were due to solenoïd fail in your gearbox...

Man I miss the Foz but it was time to move on, the new owner is still putting around Atlanta in it. We still have a lowered SF in the driveway that satisfies the Subi fix pretty well.

In other news the wife OK'ed getting a rear bumper for the Frontier. Probably going to go with a single swing out for the spare and one gas can. I hoping I can get a receiver put on the swing out to mount a bike rack, it'd be sweet to be able to swing bikes out of the way.
