Looks like you are ready for the next crossing. . . a little further south.

Andrew, nice pics, sounds like a great adventure. I have wanted to take that fairy across but never done it, thanks for the reminder! Props to Scott for lending you that sweet rig too. BTW Scott, how did that scene in the picture above turn out??

Very cool, great way to build lasting memories with kids.

When my two sons were little lads, we use to camp for a week to two weeks at a time around WA. state and up into Canada.
Lasting memories for sure.

Keep it coming...this type of report, where it's all about the love of family and sharing the outdoors together, is the best thing about the Portal. :sombrero:

El Gringo Spectacular!
Continuing on the Burr Trail and up through the switchbacks of Long Canyon was amazing. Easy in the ER, and would be a wonderful route on even a large expedition style moto; I've gotta go back and spend some more time hiking and further exploring the area.

We pass into the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and through to the small town of Escalante for dinner. Soon thereafter, we're heading South on the Smokey Mountain Road, where we found a great campsite, and did some running around finding interesting rocks and sticks....:coffeedrink:

Getting ready for bed in the Earthroamer upper bunk...notice how the hair gets crazier and crazier the longer we're out...proof that mom isn't around...

The next morning, as I've neglected to bring a lug wrench that will fit the AEV wheels, we do some pavement to Panguitch and down to Kanab, where I finally find one at the local Napa. We use the opportunity to hit the dirt again on our way home, and turn South on the House Rock Valley Road through Vermillion Cliffs. We're greeted by a stunning sunset on the red rocks, and another fitfull night's sleep.

Last night's campsite view:

On our last day, we spend some time with binoculars trying to catch a glimpse of any California Condors who make their home in Vermillion Cliffs. Seeing none, Teah settles for showing me how big their wings are.

(Yes, that is a lifesize drawing!)

All in all, a great little jaunt! Thanks again to Mr. Brady for the ER...he made a little girl very happy! (And her daddy had a great time too!)

It's amazing how fear can turn to elation in a little one immediately with the addition of ice cream!

To put a bit of a twist on one of Homer Simpson's quotes:"hmmm ice cream the cause and solution to all life's problems...".

Very fun trip for some daughter and father bonding time. :sombrero:

Nice story Andrew. What dates were you on your trip? I just returned from The Vermilion Cliffs, Kaibab NF & other areas of the AZ Strip. See you next month.

Andrew,

My wife and I really enjoyed your post, especially the pictures. What a little treasure!

We were just at several of those places this past month. Bless you for getting her out there. You are making a impact for life.

See you soon.

Andy
