I have been watching this thread, I'm trying to pull off Moab and will be a first timer to the area. I also need help picking a few trails to run. My rig is not a rock buggy but it's set up okay. 37" tires, Bead locks, ARB lockers, chromoaxles in the rear and RCVs /PR44 in the front, PSC hydro Ect. Below I'd a list of trails I would like to run? Also if anyone has a camping location that is centrally located.?(Dry or RV camp ground)

Metal masher, Golden Spike, Steel bender, Moab Rim and Seven Mile.

During EJS....or at a different time?

During EJS. I would not want to tackle those trails unless was with someone who had ran them beforehand. I do not typically wheel in large groups but I have in the past. Going is slow and can be even stopped when someone breaks.

Metal Masher- Pretty easy, you can bypass all the really hard optional stuff.
Golden Spike- REALLY long....all day and then some for most groups. You can't bypass some stuff. It's decently challenging. It is also pretty remote in the middle if you have issue without any way to get out early.
Steel Bender- Pretty easy other than the BIG drop-off in the middle. I like running that trail in reverse and cutting off the optional loop. No bypass for the wall really in either direction.
Moab Rim- Only two major obstacles, but they are intimidating for most people. You have to go up and down. The sand hill can be fun on the far loop.
Seven Mile- Long, not that hard, out of town a bit.

Since there are so many of us Moab "virgins" attending, maybe we should do some trails together. Seams like we are all kinda on the same page as far as vehicle limits and capacities.

That would be fun! Always great to put names with faces.
.
Other than running Shafer Trail and Green River Overlook on Saturday, I haven't put anything else in stone yet.
Shafer isn't being run by EJS, but you are welcome to join me. I plan to stop a lot for photo ops.
To spread things out geographically a bit, I'm considering the following EJS group runs, but need to do a bit more reading/watching before locking things in.

Sunday, Top of the World
Monday morning Fins and things, then a late lunch/early dinner and over to Arches for more photography
Tuesday, Deadman Point
.
Got the hotel reservations made. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend getting your lodging plans locked in pretty quick.

Yeah, it's looking the same way for me as well this year. :(
Bad time for my G.F. with tax season. Probably meet up with a few buddies for the Mojave Road part of the trip though, so that will be cool. :friday:

Are you doing the Mojave Rd on the same week of EJW? I have ran the road both ways and camped for two days and three days. It never gets old. Take your time and take the side trails.

Thanks for the great advice!

Yes, will be leaving Moab Wednesday morning to meet up with some buddies, and head out on the Mojave Road.
I've been looking forward to running the Mojave road for a few years now. Have it mapped out using Casebeir's guide and map, along with Google earth. None of us have crossed it, so figured to spend 3-4 days.

Just picked up my new Jeep UR and loving the experience so far. Looking forward to many fun trips in it. Thanks to you guys and this thread I now want to add EJS to my list of travels this year. Have never owned a Jeep before but had a lifted/modified Land Rover that I once took in and around Moab. Great country out there.

Just signed up for the EJS newsletter. Maybe I'll see ya'll out in Moab, lol.

What an awesome place!
Got in way after dark last night, so this morning was the first chance to see things.
Took Shafer Trail, starting at the Potash plant, then spent the rest of the day at Canyonlands & Deadhorse Point.
got a lot of pictures.

Thanks again to all of you who jumped in with suggestions.

Btw: the mushroom burger at Blu bar-b-que (correct name?), is AWESOME, as is their Blu Pig Pale Ale.
