This is a sad day for the Tacoma community. I'll go out on a limb and say your truck has been a major influence on many people's decision to purchase and build their Tacoma. Seeing what you've done with your Tacoma over the years has been a huge indirect marketing boost for Toyota trucks. Toyota should have been paying you big $$ for your work.

I certainly hope it has the same affect on Earthroamer, although it just won't be the same for me.

X2:(

Thanks for the kind words Matt. The Tacoma is an exceptional product, and my truck did everything I ever asked of it without complaint. I can easily see another Toyota build in my future.

This shift in brand takes nothing away from the Tacoma, it is just that the key difference for this next project is our need to live in the vehicle for a very long period of time, and EarthRoamer has mastered the living comfort solution. We needed a highly capable camper/house. I also had the luck of being part of the design team for the XV-JP, so much of the vehicles design has a hint of my experience on it, so it will be very easy for Stephanie and I to get comfortable with it.

This will actually be my eighth Jeep :safari-rig:

Price: $35,000 (no trades considered)

:smileeek: Dang! I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that is WAY less! That is a crazy good deal for someone. Sorry, I don't have the cash so it's none of my business, but still, wow and congratulations to the lucky new owner.

I always sell used items at well below market value. It is important to me that the truck is priced fairly as I am not the "bargaining" type. If I asked 50k and was willing to sell it for 38k, than it means I was happy to screw you at 50k. So, 35k it what it is, and I will buy you a beer and fill up your tank in Prescott when you come pick it up.

You gonna shed a tear or two when she goes?

Good luck with the sale.

You know, that is something I have thought about a lot...

I guess I have never really been that attached to any of my vehicles, which probably explains why I have had so many ;), and why I move around from brand to brand based on my needs.

I do have two vehicles that I became attached to at some level.

My 1985 Toyota Truck, which I only realized how much I really liked it long after I sold it, and my Trooper. The Trooper has just been the most amazing of vehicles and took Stephanie and I on so many awesome adventures in Arizona. I think we did HALF of the trails in the backcountry adventures guide in that vehicle. I still have it, but its days are numbered. The last training class I did with it really was rough on it, and the six years of off-road use is finally taking its toll. So, even though there is nothing fancy about the Trooper, there are wonderful memories associated with the time we have had it.

For the Tacoma, I am very proud of how this vehicle turned out and how well it works. It can drive 9,000 miles to the Arctic or run the Rubicon without even a hint of effort. It never need one single warranty repair and never had a single part fail or break. That is impressive and will be big shoes for the JK to fill ;)

The cool thing is that most likely, whoever buys it will use it and take it on some awesome adventure.

It is all about the adventure... :D

Having had the opportunity to drive this rig...all I can say is that it's even better behind the wheel than the stats show.

I'm usually a....bolt an Old Man Emu suspension kit to it and be done...but the custom work on just this small aspect is something that has to be felt to be believed....

I can only imagine how sweet the new JK's suspension is going to be.

I hope someone here ends up with this rig! Worth every penny!

To a great home.

The price is excellent and the new owner will be happy with his purchase.

Mr. Brady,
You need to include this in the sale contract:

I think a requirement of who buys this sweet rig is to keep us posted on her travels here on the ExPo!

There are two vehilce that have been very influential in the direction of my Tacoma and this is one of them. The other is the BajaTaco. Both super cool rigs. Now I only wish my frame would have been rusted and Toyota made me an offer I could not refuse. I would have been off to Arizona again!

I hope it finds a good home.

Are you going to "debadge" the truck before it's sold?

That is a very good question. The answer is "mostly" and to the new buyers desire. I must take off most of the sponsorship decals, per my contracts with them. Some of the EW specific decals are a little weathered, etc. so they will come off.

The truck looks very cool in plain white. Very safari ;)

Scott, what are you going to use as a part truck? It's gonna be hard to haul in the back of the disco. Time for a beater. Suggestion, '79 Ford short bed with mismatched body panels, cool faded paint patina and a set of vintage rims.

A year-and-a-half ago, I would have sold my truck to buy this one. Unfortuately I am in WAY TOO DEEP with my rig to get rid of it at this point. BUT - This has always been my favorite Tacoma, and has significantly influenced the build-up of my rig over the last few years. I've always thought that the only thing the EW Tacoma was missing was a Supercharger.

Since it can't come to my home, I really hope it goes to one that would be equally as good to her!
