Not quite how Halon works.
Actually what I said is exactly how halon works. Halon blocks Oxygen from feeding the fire. Halon doesn't remove the fuel, and it doesn't cool the fire to a temp below the flashpoint of the material burning. It prevents the oxygen from feeding the fire.... how else would you like it explained?
After teaching firefighters for 16 of my 23 years as a firefighter, medic and chief officer, I quickly learned, rather than going into a long chemistry class lecture of how it prevents the gaseous mixing and chemical bonding in order to form a mixture within its proper upper and lower levels of combustibility, I would just say it blocks the oxygen from feeding the fire.
Next time I'll include the full chem 102 lecture so people who like to use big words can get in on the action as well...
