Found my next Expedition tire!

After looking over all the tires, I finally ran across a very sweet tire size. As most of you know finding tall narrow tires are tough. And trying to find tall narrow 16s are really tough! While looking at all the tire websites last night, I finally ran accros a super swamper that looks like it will work! How about a radial SSR Super Swamper with the perfect size! 35/10.50/16s!!!!! They are little noiser than I wanted on the road, but my last set of SSRs I got 40k miles out of and still had a good amount of tread left.

Thats right! They make it in their ssr tires! I got a call into 4wheel parts and hopfully will have 5 by next week!

What you guys think!!:

What is the cost? That looks like a great tire to have a separate set of rims for the wheelin days then put the BFG AT's back on for civilian work.

Thanks for the info!!!

4wd Xtreme is a shop next to me. He claims that they really are not much louder than BFG ATs. I cant see that, but thats his claim. We shall see. If you look close to the trxus tire, they are not too far off. Those arent too loud.

Yeah, I dunno. Maybe (likely?) quieter than a BFG MT, but an AT? Hmmm, I'm skeptical.

Yeah, 'much' is sorta relative, eh? The guy probably spent 15 years as a roadie for The Who or something.

FWIW, when new my 33-10.50 BFG M/T's were amazingly quiet. Too bad they didn't stay that way.
An open treaded, large lugged tire like that I don't see being very quiet once 'broken in'.

My Cooper Discoverer STT have been great tires. They balance OK, make less noise than BFG MT's and grip rocks like mad at 15psi. I've got about 11k on them and have lost a few small chunks, but lots of tread depth left. A friend of mine had those Swamper in 37's and after a bit they had lost so many junks that his 80 just wobbled down the road. He said they were awesome off road though.

I had those tires in a 37", they seemed to wear fast and were expensive as all heck. They were quiet though in my opinion.

One of the Coastal Cruisers runs those on his BJ74. If he sees this I'm sure he'll chime in, but he likes them. He did the Alaska Cruiser Trek on them last year with no problems. They seem to be wearing quite well. They are fairly heavy, especially on a steel rim.

For my 74 I'm tentatively planning a set of those for my wheeling tires, and keeping my 255/85R16s for everyday/highway/easier trips.
