Guys with Full Sized 1-Tons....The big boy Full Sizers

Love seeing the 6.7 out there. What size tires and lift you have? I have a 2011 xcab with 285/75/18 (35/12.5/18) on stock wheels no lift but thinking I'd like to put like a 4" and maybe 37's (eventually) to get the belly higher. With the 35's she's got good gc under the axels but frame up she seems to sit lower than my 04 350 did on 32's. Oh and you should post some more pics of your truck here http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/18794-Lets-see-some-full-size-pictures

2" level kit and Toyo MT 35-12.5-18. For some reason my truck seems higher than most. I'm only 5'8", without the running boards I have to jump into the truck, anything taller and it's not practical for me (getting in, parking, access to the bed... etc) Even with 35's gc is an issue, I've gotten hung up a couple times due to the radius arm mounts.

I was worried about some similar issues...

Few ideas...
1. Does a 4 link or OUO/PMF 3 link mount from stock location and gain GC? I have drop brackets for my 4.5" lift which in all reality don't help anything at all.
2. Roll the shock mounts up above crush with the axle for rear GC
3. No idea what happens when you drive a 1 ton with no rear sway bars, but they hang lower too

I am on both sides of the fence on this. That is why I have a rig built to beat on and another I am building to do the camping/light expo out of. If I wanna hit the rocks I just hook the Toyota up behind the Cummins and head out. Long trips in the Toyota are out of the question any more because its road manners are much the same as a bull dogs table manners but it is a joy in tight rocky technical trails. The Cummins on the other hand eats the highway up loaded or empty and still delivers me and mine to the back country areas where I wanna get.

Work in progress.

Bump for any comments regarding above.

I'm not a ford guy so I can't answer those questions for you. What I can give you is the free advice that is worth what you pay for it. Your wheelbase and break over angle is the only concern I have in full size rigs. You already fixed the break over with the lift. I prefer a shortbed crew cab in a pickup(hunting partner has 05 chev 2500). I drive a suburban for the family trips. I live in the PNW and service logging equipment in the woods with a KW T370 11foot service body. I've made some wrong turns and some correct turns that sent me down old roads that many consider expedition wheeling trails.

Advise:
If the long bed is a hindrance than take it off and build the perfect bed and wheelbase for your application. The front half of your truck is awesome IMO. Leather, power options, climate control, diesel, and the best of all its paid for right? More cash for upgrades and trips! :wings:

F350

Here is my f350

Crew cab 4x4

I hadn't found a trail I couldn't navigate. The utility bed storage always helps to assure that we have everything we need in the back country. Hopefully some 37's are in the near future.

1. Not familiar with the 3 link mount you are talking about, but the drop brackets definately help in restoring caster with the stock Radius arms. Otherwise you will be running negative caster (hello Death Wobble!)
2. I can't recall off my truck, but from memory they don't sit much (if at all) lower than the centre housing.
3. You can run it without sway bars. The stock Ford one may as well not be there (provides almost no resistance), and is only included on DRW models, and those fitted with the camper package.

1. http://www.pmfsuspension.com/Adjustable-3-Link-Arms_p_22.html & http://www.oneupoffroad.com/ouoproducts.html Go down to the adjustable link arms
2. I'll take a picture of the rear housing tonight. I'm due for new shocks so if it's as simple as grinding off and rolling the mounts, then measure for new shocks may be worth it
3. The sway bars hang down a good bit on my Single wheel.. Guess I have a camper package lol. Good to know I won't notice much difference if any.

I've always been one to consider some of the easy and simple things to make the final product better.. like how it would suck to hang a shock mount, and how easy it would be to roll them.

F350 - Really good looking truck man. I bet with all that storage you can take about everything you need with you! Good setup.

NateMC - Really good advise, I appreciate it
