Haters!

reason they are illegal is that they cant be adjusted (either manually or automatically) to level out.
my 04 subaru STi has a manual switch to adjust the HIDs 4 position.
the higher end (mercs, lexi's, etc) cars have an auto levelling thingee.
I don't want hids I just want brighter lights.
I took a buffer and some rubbing compound to my lens and it helped a lot. They get beat up in the winter around here.
The difference is that the Acura came from the factory with HID light assemblies. Adding HID bulbs to the runner is putting HID bulbs in a housing that has reflectors and lenses designed for halogen bulbs, and so it is against the law.On another note my mom-in-law's 01' Acura TL had regular style lenses with HID's from the factory with no projector. What is the difference of that compared to throwing some HID's in the runner? Just a question...
Because replaceable light sources are, by regulation, designed to be non-interchangeable, it would not be possible for an HID headlamp conversion set to meet the standard's photometry requirements for an original equipment headlamp system using a halogen light source
S4. Definitions
Replaceable light source means an assembly of a capsule, base, and terminals that is designed to conform to the requirements of Appendix A or Appendix B of part 564 Replaceable Light Source Information of this Chapter
That G1/G3 HID projector kit is pretty sweet way to do it assuming you can get the headlight back together without leaks.
This also seems to be our simplest solution, however, reading further you'll notice reports of shaking on dirt/gravel roads. On the streets i'm sure this is a great option, I just don't know if I could handle the jittering when on washboards at night.![]()
This is Toyota were talking about here, everything is grounded and well. I'm fairly certain the harness doesn't need replacing.

What's the bulb life supposed to be for the IPF X4's? I do love me some IPF.
Let's not forget that some replacement HID's have some reports of them affecting electonics.

Given how electronic cars are, do you REALLY want to risk screwing with gas or brakes or something really important?
