Post 47

I had the police check done on the gray tub trailer in post 47 today. License branch said I had to apply for the title as a home built because all the marking plates were gone. I will put the application in the mail tomorrow and hope for the best. To bad it will be a 2012 title for the trailer that is way older. I looked at a lot of trailers and the way the tub looks compared to the others I have seen the best I can figure it is a M416.

I did snap this today
Frame 02.JPG
it is just over 12 inches longer than when I dropped it off.

There was tub progress but not enough to get my hopes up.

Thanks Mark!

The paperwork for the VIN is in the mail box to be picked up tomorrow.

Yes it extends 28 inches I figured it would tow better on open roads with a long hitch and trail better with a short hitch.

I added 2 Gas Springs 250 pounds each, they weren't enough so I ordered 2 more

Then I started planning out my hitch rack.

4 Group 31 batteries, 2 propane tanks, 2400W Generator and 4 Rotopax cans

This will be the Highway setting for the hitch and it will move in for tight trails

Of all the notes and ideas im compiling, why is this the first i have heard of an extendable tongue? is this frowned upon? how's the rattling on/off trail? saftey factor?

I made it a removable hitch so some day I can replace the ball and coupler with a lock and roll. The extendable part came from me shoving the whole 6 foot of tube stock in the trailer and cutting it to the shortest possible length and weld on the coupler because I wasn't exactly sure how long I wanted to make it. I am going to cut the excess off 2 inches behind the reciever then drill a 5/8" hole about an inch from the end slip in a bolt in and double nut it so if the pin were to fall out the bolt will act as a stop and prevent the tube from sliding out. As far as safety chains I have installed the first set as shown in the pictures I will be adding a second set that will hook to a pair of the safety chain hoops like the one in the picture. I will split them in half and weld them in highway an trail lengths. The rattle will not be noticeable because I'm going to get the J pin type hitch pins and drill the second hole to silence them.

I am laying out the electrical control panel. The trailer will have 2 onboard battery banks and the option to charge or run off a third bank.
Each if the switches will tie the bank to the load and the charger will be tied to each bank as needed.
I am working out the placement of the connections in the space I have avalible.
