Just landed in Reykjavík and am getting settled. Its been less than 24 hours and I am already loving the place. I am staying right downtown and hit the oldest cafe in the city for a little breakfast.

Then a trip to Arctic Trucks, where we tested out a Prado on 44s

I pick up a special truck tomorrow - it still has the cooling hoses for the volcano I intend to visit ;)

Scott,
My wife is Icelandic and has a HUGE family network spanning Isafjordur to Reykjavik and beyond. Most have glacier trucks and all would be happy to help in any way. I'm traveling in Panama now so my coverage is a bit spotty but PM me if you'd like me to put you in touch w/ anyone. They all have "cabins" scattered around the island too so that could be fun.
Cheers!

Don't tell us that you ATE a Puffin!!! You might as well have said that you ate a Golden Retriever.

Actually, Atlantic Puffins are a traditional food for Icelanders. The hunters net the birds as they return to their nest sites on cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Here's a video that shows how Icelanders hunt their Puffin dinners

Yesterday was all about testing the 44" tires on the Prado. We were up on the glacier and got caught in a white-out. Visibility was just a few feet in front of the hood at one point. The only way we could retreat from the glacier was using the GPS track. Trying to look out of the front windscreen just made me feel seasick, so I just looked at the GPS. We were less than 100 meters from a significant crevasse zone - intense!

Today was about testing the HiLux package on Arctic Trucks special 38" tires. This truck is awesome and the D4D Turbo Diesel is a joy to drive. This truck has been to the North Pole!
