Improved Engine Cooling?

It's there to make it hard to recover any nuts, bolts, washers, etc. that you drop from above.

Seriously, I have no idea why they put that stuff on. Lose it, unless someone else knows a good reason to keep it.

Put it back on! Thats not how the engineers intended it.:coffee:

The belly pans under the engine bay are usually put there for sound proofing reasons. There is a suprising amount of sound reflection down from the engine off the road surface and into the cabin area. The engineer intended it to be that way to meet a requirement driven by the luxury market that the SUV is aimed at. It is pretty much uneccessary if you don't mind a little extra noise.

It does perform one useful function by catching the various fluid leaks from the engine bay and saving your driveway.

One of my favorite techs I used to work with used to say "The bolt fell into an alternate dimension." I always chuckled at that.

It does perform one useful function by catching the various fluid leaks from the engine bay and saving your driveway.

Only until it overflows... and then it makes it harder to trace the leak... ;)
