X2first - it's cummins not cummings. sorry that just drives me batty
second - i would stick with what i am hoping mine to be in a few years. obs ford crewcab 12valve p-pump cummins, eaton fuller fso6406a 6 speed, twin stick np205, dana 80 rear with disc brakes and arb, shackle reversal upfront, 3.54 gears, king pin dana 60 front with an arb.
but i like to tinker, and the newer truck with their accompanying payments don't appeal to me.
X2
Thank you, finally someone making some sense in this thread.
Yeah, I will more than likely go the duramax/allison combo. Just have to figure out if I should go new or used. Any idea on what year models were best?
I'd vote for 06...last year no emissions stuff...first year of 6 spd Alli...365hp/650 ft/lbs
I agree, if money is not a concern. If it is, there could be other options.I tell everyone that asks me about which truck to buy, go drive them all and then decide what works for YOU.
Land Rover is no longer owned by Ford, Land Rover and Jaguar were sold sold to Tata in 2008.
Wasn't the Dodge Ram division of Dodge bought by Tata as well? I think that's why the new trucks are called, "RAM" and are no longer referred to as "Dodge Ram".

Aside from your spec of eaton fuller, I am right there with you! I sold my obs crew with sky offroad shackle reversal, and man do I miss that truck. I am actively shopping for one now. 12v going in when the sun shines again. P or VE pump are both fine. Either way, a fun truck!
