Radio Stack and X-Grip
After selling my FJ62 I decided to use my Tacoma for SAR. I needed to add in my FT-7900r and a commercial radio. As it turns out the Tacoma is limited on space (who knew). The body for the FT-7900r is mounted under the drivers seat with the remote head mounted on a RAM mount in the place of the ashtray. Below that is my Kenwood commercial radio (we use mainly commercial for SAR work) and sadly it does not have a remote head. I needed to figure out a place to mount it that wouldn't be too out of the way while being low profile enough to not grab attention in a parking garage. So I came up with a bracket that mounts under the trans cover and uses existing bolts. I need to paint it, but I have been testing it for over a month now and like the location.
Additionally I switched from the Lobster mount to the RAM x-Grip almost 2 years ago and LOVE it. It is way more adjustable. Very solid under vibration, and have a more minimalistic look when not holding something.
