We took advantage of the long weekend and headed down to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways for some canoing and swimming. Weather outlook was good when we left the city on Friday night, but something must of changed because it actually rained quite a bit. We were able to work around it and get out on the river.
Rainy river side campground Saturday morning:
Lounging in the camper with the quadrapeds during the Saturday morning down pour:
Gabby delivers another rock out of the river...
Louie slept nearly the whole canoe trip.
Towards the end of the day, a mist came off the river. It was a nice touch to cap off a great afternoon on the river!
Sunday morning, our friends Tim and Mary had to pack up camp and head back to the city. We all went to Rocky Falls on their way home. Gabby and Louie swam, first time for Louie!!
Natasha and I took advantage of the warm weather and went back to the campsite to sit in the river. The dogs swam some more and we all called it a day.
It stormed hard again later that night, which made our decision to turn in for the night even easier.
Today we packed it in and headed for home. On the way we investigated a couple out of the way campsites that we plan to use on our trip back to the area next month.
Over all it was a really good weekend even though the weather did not work quite like we thought it would. This was our first rainy weekend in the trailer and I have to say that it was really nice not having to hang out in a tent on the ground. Even more so because our campsite turned into a small pond after Saturday's storm...so much so that we dug a trench to drain it off.
