To start off this is #5 4runner for me, I fell in love with them cause my mother had a 1st gen my dad built her then a 3rd gen(with a supra in between)
I cant help but love toyotas my father owns a bodyshop and in between working on customers cars he has always built and restored toyota trucks,so ive been helping to build toyota from a very young age.
I have strayed away from toyota a couple times, I have built a lot of VWs and BMWs but always come back to the yotas.
I have owned 9 toyotas 5 4runners a camry,a pickup a van I lived in when I was traveling and a supra !
So the new to me 4runner is a 97 limited 3.4l auto with the diff lock, I got it from a doctor in Vancouver.
Its got 377000 kms and runs great,(it was driven across the country for 6 years so all highway driving and never of road) altho it was not maintained as good as he said and I thought....but I got it for a really cheap and he did say it has been sitting for a least a year,so I knew it would need some things. All around its in great shape the leather and inside are a 9 out of 10 with the driver seat the only thing a little wore, the outside is a 8 out of 10 just a couple scarps and a little rust. I drove it from Vancouver to Victoria and it worked awesome besides needing shocks...but after I got home and started checking things out I started to feel sick...started by pulling the plugs and yeah he had the wrong plugs in it, single prong plug and not the double prong ones then I open the timing belt cover and almost ****...he had told me the timing belt was done a year ago then the truck was put in the garage I asked to see the records,he had a lot of records for oil changes but said the rest of the records where in the house somewhere and when he found them he would email them to me including the timing belt and water pump papers, being a MD and very professional I thought I could trust him...Well when I pulled the cover off the timing belt was cracked and very brittle...So **** he lied and I was pissed cause if he lie about that what else did he lie about.
I took it to the shop up the road to get it inspected to see what it need, turns out its not to bad couple little leaks, need some bushing and shocks and of course the timing belt water pump and all the fluids changed.
