OMG!!!
Jonathan's not wearing a khaki colored shirt!

:sombrero:

I didn't recognize him either until I saw his face. The Land Cruiser turns 300K and he's a new man. Hmmm.

Josh, looks like you are shooting in HD, I like it!

almost. unfortunately i had to shoot the rally on mini dv.

i just purchased the HVX200 a few weeks ago and there were no P2 cards available right away. in fact i had to put my name on a waiting list. good news is that i got a call just before the rally that they have some cards available for me. so i'll be making a purchase on monday, can't wait.

in the meantime i've been learning the camera. it's pretty cool. can't wait for the cards to get here so i can see what it can really do.

:jumping:

just got back from the rally this evening. what a great time. good to see people that i haven't seen in awhile.

turnout was really good for the three days of trail riding and other events. there were a few incidents of trail damage but nothing that can't be buffed out :)

glad to see the overland journal crew there. in fact from what i saw they draw a pretty good crowd, not only for the journal but the african conservation fund adventure raffle.

it would be cool to see an overlandvideo.com booth next year. that way i could sell some of my videos ;)

anyway, if you're a rover owner on the forum here and have never been to the rally, you should really try and make it next year.

it's the 60th anniversary of land rover and the rally will take place in moab, september 16 through the 30th

graham might post a few more pix. you can also check out the solihull society (the rover club that puts on the rally, i used to be the web admin for them), they'll be posting a lot of photos.

Here are some images Jonathan took. We joined Graham (gjackson) and Connie Jackson with their B*n Defender, and Brian McVickers (mcvickoffroad) with his Discovery, which was sporting the new Overland Journal door decal - Brian is Overland Journal's advertising manager.

It was great fun - we met many really fun people, saw some unbelievable vehicles, had some spectacular days on the trails, and great food and conversation in the evenings. What could be better?

Jonathan may post some more pics soon.

Drool time. The morning lineup on Saturday: 10-14 lanes, 10 deep each lane - all really gorgeous vehicles:

Disco does its thing. We chose the Black Bear Pass run. Up and over 12,000 feet - wow - and a challenging enough trail to keep it interesting.

Defender does its thing. Graham and his Defender made everything look easy. Always with a smile, too.

Ho Chung of Expedition Exchange piloting his very nicely set up G4, along with daughters Beverly and Emily, who had a blast. (At the fundraising raffle that evening, Ho won one of the grand prize $500 Discount Tire gift certificates - and donated it back to the event so it could be raffled off for more money - now that's class.)

Not in Kansas any more. A nice sampler vehicle shot. Waterfalls a dime a dozen up there. Nice for us desert folks.

Pushing on the wall is not recommended. That was a tight fit.

The Long Way Down. Yes, that's the trail. A little pucker action on those switchbacks (which were K-turns for everyone).

A little exposure is good for you. Smiling nervously piloting Brian's Discovery down those switchbacks. Note the death grip.

The view of Telluride from the top. Nice G4, too.

AHHHHHH.. Black Bear Pass. I bought my first Rover (65 IIA 88") from the owner of the Bridal Veil power plant, the house in the picture above. In fact, the Rover used to sit at the bottom of the pass for quite a few years.

Just wondering......were any Series Rovers in attendance this year?

60th Anniversary! I remember the 50th! Maybe I'll get my Series I 107" pickup ready for it. It made it for some of the 50th celebrations, it should definitely be there for the 60th.
