Here are a few of mine...
Circa 1986, 220th MP CO, COARNG. Headed to Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch for some training. Stopped in Castle Rock for coffee. Vehicles are M151A1 1/4 tons, officialy called the "MUTT" (Military Utility Tactical Truck) but nobody called them that - we called the Jeeps. Interestingly, they only had a single speed T-case (2wd/4wd.) They also had 4 wheel independent suspension.
This is 1989, Germany (Ansbach, near Nuernberg.) I'm in the TC (Commander's) hatch of "Chester the Molester", the M577 Armored Command Post Vehicle (ACPV) for the G2, DTAC (Division Tactical Command Post) of 1st Armored Division (Old Ironsides.)
Next one is from 1994. M998 (I think) HMMWV, soft top, traveling through the streets of Limbe, in Haiti for Operation Uphold Democracy (OUD)
1997, at Checkpoint Mike in Nasice, Croatia for Operation Joint Guard. I was with the 805th MP CO, USAR, based out of North Carolina. We were based in Hungary at Taszar Airbase but ran convoy escort and route recon missions into Croatia every day.Vehicle is a standard light-armor M1025 HMMWV.
Afghanistan, 2003, we took a "day trip" to Kabul from our base at Bagram. Vehicles were a 100-series LC and a 2nd generation Hilux Surf, both right-hand drive (probably sourced from Pakistan.) We stopped at the "New Palace" and were swarmed by a group of brightly dressed girls, so we handed out candy and bottled water.
Kuwait, 2004: I was part of a group that ran a couple of different deployment camps, so we had a motley set of vehicles. One of my favorites was this little Mitsubish "Space Gear" van. It had 4wd with a manual tranny and manual 2 speed t-case. Very roomy but the AC struggled in Kuwait's summer temps which could hit 120 degrees (50c) by noon.
Finally, the last few months of my deployment to Kuwait I got to tool around in this then-new 2004 Prado.
