Are the trails dried out after all that rain? I was hoping to ride tonight...

-Chris

Hello Chris,

I am under the impression that it is too wet. I did a road ride today. With that said, I asked a mountain biker coming off the trails system by Fire station #4(Double Peak). He said the trails were dry. I think it just comes down to were you intend on riding. Get out and have some fun! :bike_rider:

I swung by the LaCosta Preserve trails this morning before work and they are still way too wet. But that being said there was some guys up there ripping down the switchbacks.

People wonder why we have chicken wire holding our trails together.

Road ride for me.

Chris

Rails and Trails - March 1, 2012

Moonlander-RailsandTrails2-0489.jpg

Road ride today. We got rail last night. So I took off for Escondido. I spent a good portion of my ride on the Inland Rail Trail. Neat find and a good/fast way to get around.

A photograph of Escondido Blvd. and Grand Ave. A nice day out with a slight breeze.

I stopped at Bike Bling to look around. These fella's liked the bike!

Back on the trail system.

Instead of getting run over by a car you have to watch out for these things.

The route - Out thru Elfin Forest, Inland Rail Trail around to San Marcos, and lastly up and over Twin Oaks Valley Road.

Distance 22.0 miles
Elevation 1517 feet

Got side tracked with my GoPro today. Ended up just doing a quick loop in La Costa Preserve. Trails are 95% dry.

This should look similar to other posts. Up to the Boy Scout Kiosk, Down Vista Del Mar and around to the house.

Later in the day I picked the boys up from school. On the ride home Nathan(my youngest) was practicing his no handed riding. I will leave you hanging with the photograph below.

My hat is off to you, I rode the Muk for 5 miles on the beach the other day and it felt like I was dragging the spare from my Landcruiser behind me.muk@venice.jpg

Uh - oh...

Follow up from post #112. I'm no doctor but I guess he snapped his funny bone off. I guess all those talks about how not to fall went on deaf ears.

NathansElbow2-0526.jpg

Glad to report that 16 hours later. Nathan has what he has always wanted a cast. Keeps life exciting! Now does this mean he will have to skateboard to school.

Looks like a nice area to ride. I know the feeling you are describing. I felt the same way when I hit the beach on the Critical Mass ride. It was high tide and the sand was deep. I made it about a mile down the beach and headed back to the boardwalk. Play with your tire pressure and go out when it is low tide/hard packed sand. It's not a snow bike it's an Adventure Bike! Enjoy your travels.

I rode really early and the funniest part was the looks on the runner's faces as they realized that there was a bike coming down the beach at them. BTW glad your little dude is okay, that's a bummer.

I have to say that I had my reservations about the fat bike craze, then I rode a Moonlander...

Can we stop and talk about that paint job? That is some serious bass boat silver going on.

I think owning one of these would be motivation in I self to get out and ride in any condition. Snow, beaches, sand dunes, even 30 minutes riding up curbs. Looks like it is getting you out

Oh no! That's a cool looking cast Nathan - get well soon!

Thanks for the well wishes!

Love that feeling. I really like passing another cyclist. The sound of the tires humming usually has them doing a double take.

Love the reference to the paint job! You nailed it perfectly. Its got me thinking about taking a couple of my dad's fishing lures and some how attach them to the presta valve. Like a big mouth bass biting down.
