The Mojave road, while taking dignity from Eric, claimed my front axle and a few other bits and pieces from that set of whoops :(

front axle, you say??? Tell us more!

BTW - I lost an exhaust hanger, so I didn't escape completely unscathed.

We decided to take 2 rigs back to the river to pull out my truck, first was Garrett's jeep and then we had Robert's taco. Garrett gets there, we start planning the recovery...Garret goes to get into position - Jeep is dead.

He had to self recover while the two Tacomas played in the mud and water.

I bent the driver's side axle tube, crushed the coil mounts, smashed the bumpstops, pulled the rear leafsprings out of alignment....it was quite the whoop! Jeeps don't fly.:costumed-smiley-007

Ok I don't know any of you and I wish I had done this run. Great pics! My brother has an old Jeep like that one, maybe even same color. Scary climbing and lost bumper. Keep me in mind for the next trip. My GF and I just got back from one night in Joshua Tree. Took the Geology Tour to Berdoo Canyon out. There were some sections there that had me concerned. The scenery in Joshua Tree is almost the same and I was stopping all the time to get pics. I need either CO's or Billy 5100s up front and I will be better prepared.

Hi I'm Eric

Hey Eric,

Your shocks should be fine...just stay far back enough from the car in front of you to see the trail...not seeing the whoops led to my demise.

Yah, I did it with absolutely zero damage, in a completely stock truck that was worth every penny of the $600 I paid for it.

A few vids

Hey everyone, here are a few vids I took. I will try to post more of a writeup with pics and everything in the next few days.

The infamous RATTLE SNAKE!:

Watercrossing in my tacoma...look and listen really closely and you can hear me honk and see a duck fly out from in front of me to the left. While I was crossing, a kamikazi duck decided to cross in front of me..haha:

One of the fun "slightly technical" areas. A nice descent...Garretts jeep looked plain sexy doing this. Unfortunatly my IFS doesnt look as good :( but she still got down with no problems, go OME!...also, to those that were there, is it just me or does this vid make it seem a lot LESS steep that it really was? I seem to remember it being a LOT steeper than it looks here.

Crusing down a few smaller whoops behind Gregg in his X-Terra. I have to hand it to him, this was stock susp as far as I know and he would bounce that thing all over. I swear he had all 4 wheels off the ground at several points...honeslty, I think he was actually AIMING for the whoops..haha (soundtrack courtesy of Alineh's freshly made CDs haha):
