In the interest of simplicity I'm considering a manual lift that resembles the following concept on a larger scale...(see example)
The roof would pitch up and forward on the two pivoting legs and be further secured to the rear by a drop-down leg once it was raised. A "sun area" would be exposed in the rear and a bed platform would extend over the cab and hood. All of this could be left open or progressively closed in for camping. I can fit 4' legs that will allow stand-up room when extended.
Ok. Let me have it. What do you think? :smiley_drive:

I must admit I wanted nothing to do with this when he first conjured up the insanity and am truly sad I wasn't there for the start of it all.
So, he essentially had a shell that was just going to waste.
Welcome aboard!Hi Guys,
Thanks for your warm response to my conversion Excursion. My Brother has introduced me to your wonderful community and I'm excited to participate. Dave (evilram) has the heart of an expedition adventurer if anyone does.
I'll be posting more regarding this project soon and I warmly invite you to contribute your knowledge and experience.
Very nice job!! That is turning out really sharp. Funny thing about your build is I just started a excursion poptop for a client down in denver. I will be starting a thread on it in the next week or so. If you guys have questions or need to source parts or just want to pick my brain feel free to drop me aline or give me a call, I would be glad to help out if I can. Keep up the nice work and keep posting more pictures.
Derek
I have to say, that doesn't look bad at all!
(PS: Chilliwak, did you really have to quote all the pictures and text from the original post? Here, have a coffee:)
