I couldn't handle the stock sleeping set up of folding musical chairs (too used to my 96 Explorer which folds completely flat) and their weird height levels so I built a sleeping platform in my Gen 2/2.5.
Yes, it is awesome that Mitsu did this rather than nothing though, and if you are a small Japanese person or can sleep on your back it would probably be fine.
