And yes, a turbocharged BJ60 is king of kings!!:smiley_drive:

:sombrero:  :victory: :wings: :bike_rider: :coffeedrink: :iagree: :suning: :clapsmile

What do I get for a turbocharged BJ60 with a PTO winch, A/C rear locker, front LSD etc., etc. (snorkel, boggers [maybe] and rooftop tent to come)?

btw "redthies" where in "Southwest BC" are you located?

The 12HT (correct me if I've got that designation wrong) verion that was also sold in the 60 was not just a 2H with a snail on the side, it had different internals, as shown in comparison photos in a magazine a while back - i forget which.

The 12HT and 13BT are direct injection, the 2H and 3B are indirect injection. I believe that was the only difference, but I´m not 100% sure.

I used to own an HJ60 and I loved it! It could do with a 5speed though, it was revving a bit hard on the highway.
But, I was getting about 11ltr-100km when I was doing 55mph, so economy is great. It´s a bit of a tractor engine, slow but lots of torque.

Don´t know what the 2F is like though, I prefer diesels.

A 60 is awesome, simple, robust, reliable and comfy. If you look at what the Australians drive, it´s all 80 and 100 series. But if you look what the aboriginals drive, you´ll see LOTS of 60 series, very neglected but they just don´t die.

FJ60 advice

I have had a 60 for over 10 years. I have taken it on many long road trips. With a OME heavy suspension the ride is very confortable. You will have to downshift to get up hills. Since I am lifted with a roof rack and 33" tires I am lucky to get 10 mpg.

Around here they drive the new troopy's with the Diesel V8, they've got some pretty good royalties negotiated with the mining company....

Oh yep, I´ve seen lots of those too. They´re awesome machines! Too bad you can´t get them over here, only through grey import.

That V8 is the best thing that ever happened to the LC!

I presently hail from a small windy town at the north end of Howe Sound. 39ronin country... As soon as the real estate market gets off its MMMMM (ie: when our house sells!!!) we will be loading up the vintage F350 and the off-road pop-up trailer and moving to the south of the tropic of cancer for a spell. :costumed-smiley-007 Too bad a cruiser won't carry all the stuff we "need" for this trip/move!

Sounds like Squamish to me. Hey, we made the trip south with just the BJ60 from Surrey to Guatemala.

Yup Squambladesh! I have done a 5 month southern mex trip in my BJ60 but this time I have wife and 3 big dogs, plus all the gear for a year. We might build something down there too. Surfboards, zodiac, outboard etc etc. A bit too much when you add the 4000 lb trailer.
