Need some help, as usual.

So, as luck would have it I found a tub. :wings:
Really really straight, and almost no rust at all. It is a 66. With all the research i have done it should fit without any problems. So, first order of business is to get it home. Then I will start sanding and getting it ready for paint. I have desided on keeping the color stock orange. I will also start rewiring the whole thing. Not sure if I will buy a "kit" or build from scratch. I have done both in the past, but it's been a few years. So we shall see.

Getting excited now. I took the cover off today after work and drove it around the valley. :smiley_drive: Can't wait for the warm sunny weather.

When I get the tub home I will post up some photos, but it may be a week or more. The trailer I need to pick it up with has 3 1/2 tons of hay on it :Wow1: Gonna have to unload it first.

Double check that the tub is a straight swap.

Spidey-sense is telling me that there are minor differences that could be a PITA. In particular how the pedal assemblies and such mount (through the floor versus the normal/modern style we are used to today).

I may have my vintages muddled though.

I can't remember what year the windshield frame changed... not a big deal regardless but make sure you know which one you have before ordering a soft top.

Will do. To be honest it is really hard to get good concrete evidence on what the year interchange is. Everyone has an opinion, and everyone else is wrong (according to the current persons opinion you are going with.) So, the general interchange is 72 to 75, but tubs can go from early 60's to 75, and fenders and hoods can go from 72 to 80something. You get what I am dealing with. :Wow1:

I hadn't thought of the pedals, so I with look into that. Thanks. May need to do some fabbing. As for the windshield frame I knew I may not be able to use my current one. Either it works, or I will need one from a 66. The price was right however, so I am happy with it.

On to a few photos. There are quite small and not the greatest quality as they are what they yard sent me origanally.

I can't wait to get it home... Anyone got a trailer I can borrow? :coffeedrink:
I can say one really good thing about Jeeps. When looking at a new tub that looks like it could have had some body work done, it is really easy to just look at the backside/underneath of dam near every panel and see if it is dented, welded or who knows what else. The rockers, quarter panels and such on this tub are as straight as they appear from the outside.

Yep, it is hard to nail it down sometimes.

With respect to the windshield, IIRC the only real difference is how wide it is at the top where it meets the soft top. The newer style is tapered inwards, early is vertical. Otherwise they interchange with the exception of where it meets the soft/hard top.
