Iirc, you check the fan when you stop the engine to see what it does. With a cold engine, the fan should spin pretty freely to a stop. With a warm engine, it should stop right away... Or maybe thats backwards LOL... Perhaps someone smarter can chime in.How can I check to see if it's fan clutch. If this is the problem, how hard is it to change it and how much you think the part will cost
on hot engine it should be locked up.
Oh wow, never noticed that. I thought you meant right next to the radiator, not the engine. Will have to remember to check that out, next time I'm under the hood.:26_7_2:Took some pics on my phone when we were pulling the motor. This is the best pic I have.

I second this notion.on hot engine it should be locked up.
Yes it sounds like you did it right. Maybe check a known good cars fan the same way and check if it stops immediately when warm or spins when cold.Ok just checked the fan when it was cold. It would spin Ez. I ran the motor till it got hot to normal temp. (about 10 min) then turn the motor off and the fan kept spinning. Did I do that the right way? If so how can I jam it up till I get a new fan? Thanks Eric
is not 2001-2002?Get a cross reference on year compatibility. There is a pick and pull sort of place near me that I may be visiting soon. They have a couple of monties that I'll be robbing parts from.
