Newb What military platform is the best starting point

The left one is a 105. Prob too large for an FJ. Close to 2700 lbs empty, maybe more with that top. Couplers on the 105 are pretty high. The right one, looks like a 101 flatbed and would make a good platform for a build.

I will look at the flat bed Sunday and offer him $600. And go up from there looks like it would be a good platform to start with

RagnarD is correct. The trailer on the left is a M105. It's a 1 1/2 ton trailer that is towed primarily by M35 2 1/2 ton trucks and has air brakes.

There is a local trucking company locally (NE/Central PA) selling M116 trailers for $225. They are missing the lunettes, and surge brakes controls, but since those are the first parts most owners take off, it might not be a big deal for you. I bought my M116 from this guy and have to say its the best general purpose trailer I've used. Much stronger than anything you would buy at a hardware or farm store, simple as can be, and very versatile. I pull it with a 3/4 Dodge most of the time, but I have had it behind my ZJ. It was heavy, but pulled well. That says a lot considered I haven't gotten around to converting it to electric brakes :)

That is a really good deal. 4 hours from me. With my limited time I probably can't travel that far but will talk to the boss

I recently bought a late 60s BenHur trailer. It's 4x6 and resembles a military trailer. My 4cyl Tj pulls it.

There is a lot of info on them on EarlyCj5.

Pretty cool trailer.
