Hi,

Since I know that you don't have this in the stats, tought it will intersting to see.
It is big as a LC100, has two solid axels, Auto trans, RD lock, and build like a small truck - very solid.

Here are some pics.

It is my working truck, I lead expeditions with it to the desert - mainly in Jordan & Egypt - and of course in Israel.
I plan on preparing it for the big expedition in Australia in two years with my family.

Love to hear what you think,

Beautiful truck!

Reminds me alot of the Landcruiser 80 series - which is a good thing in my book.

Are those 265/75R16 tires?

What kind of fuel economy do you get?

Okay, that's just wrong. You shouldn't be allowed to post Nissan Patrol porn. Not fair; not fair.

Hi guys,

Thanks,
Yep, it is like the LC80 - we did not have it in Israel (like you did), so this is what we are left with :). (I wish i could get a 1998 LC80 fully loaded)

It is a turbo-Diesel intercooled power - 3.0L 165 HP - which is way out of your league - you are used to V-8, V-6 250hp+ power plants....

This one takes 13L per 100km.

I love it! I wish we could get these. One of my all time favorite rigs (expecially when outfitted for expeditions) :Wow1:

Very nice. We have them here in Indonesia, but there are not many.

Just one question: In what percetange of cases or places that you go, would you not be able to make it to your destination without the solid front axle?

Mauricio, its not getting to the destination thats the worry,

its the getting back ! :smiley_drive:

Even toyota here in the middle east supply solid axle 100 series LC's..for desert use. "105" is the designation

Plus the 79 series are sold here too, all with solid axles

Independant just has too many moving parts, pivot points bushings and pressed steel parts for daily use on desert roads.....sorry road is a bit much

desert pistes........100's of kilometers of ungraded gravel tracks and blown sand.

I just sold a beaten up old RJ77 LC to a guy here in Muscat, who is promptly driving it to yemen to sell there, solid axle vehicles are the desert favorite
and even the oldest 80 and 60 series are near impossible to buy here, as they are all in use out in the countryside

the reason is'nt internet folk law, its just what works best- for longer

We have a works Hilux D4D brand new, has been aligned twice in 3 months usage in the desert, just due to things vibrating apart

Nissan Patrol 4.8 driver so I am biased

solid axles

Hey guys,

Just got beck from a desert tour.

As for the solid axle question: In all places a non solid axles 4x4 can go (and come back). the thing is that as mentioned here, independent suspension are to gentle for long term abuse - to many parts (and too small and gentle).
I can go faster on uneven surface - and not fear bents or faults.

the whole structure is very solid and tough.

It is my choice for real hard (off-road) work - I pay the price on road, it will never be comfortable and sharp as an independent suspension 4x4.

With careful wheel placement, and possibly some traction aids (ie lockers) you will be able to get an independant front vehicle as far as a solid front vehicle. The biggest problem with IFS is that it tends to leave one front wheel hanging in the air, while a solid axle forces that same wheel onto the ground.

The big benifit of solid axles (appart from better traction without lockers) is that they will go bush all day every day for their entire lives. I regularly drive patrols and cruisers that have done over 250,000km offroad, and except for perhaps a bull bar and some new springs/shocks as they wear out, have never had a major problem.
