Well we had our first meeting about our return to Baja. We have planned 3 weeks this year. Nov 1-21. Our goal right now is tentative but here are the basics. Tampa to dallas stay with toyota of dallas crew for a day. Then drive to Tuscon spend the night. Leave for rocky point and take 2 days going to El Golfo. From there head to Ensenada and Drive the course to Cabo. At that point the wives will fly in and hang for 2 days. Then the crew will hard road up to Ensenada where we will be spending the four days before the race with team McMillan. We met them on last years trip and they have invited us out. We will be filming the Team McMillan final prep for Truck Universe and then set up on the course for race day somewhere in the first 500 miles. Then the day after the race head for the border and drive home.

We learned alot on last first years run and feel that this is a workable plan for the most part. I'm sure there will be changes to this but this is where our heads are at. It should be a "relaxing" pace compared to last years trip LOL!

It looks like the crew for sure is Chris and Ann from Campa, myself and Cory (offroad fever), Mike Lokey Matt (truck Universe) Jeremy the owner of (Rock Krawler)and Carlton (new photographer). At this point we have mostly the same crew as last year. We are considering allowing a few other people to participate in this trip with us but we have not decided fully.

Anyway looking to the planning stages this year and the process of the getting the rigs ready starting in a few weeks.

Ok so a few updates. We are all in the tedious process of getting the rigs ready now. We have teamed up with Cystic Fibrosis this year to make our event a fundraiser. we will have 2 events before we go one of which is the send off party. More details on this we come in the next week or so.

Since some of the guys had to change their departure dates, we have a few crazy things going on. It looks like Mike and Jason will be shipping the rigs out to Tuscon. Cory and I will be driving my rig out. we are basically going to have 2 trips at the same time and will meet up in the middle.

Cory and I will be arriving in Ensenada on the night of the Nov 3r. Start our drive down the course to Cabo on the 4th, and hopefully arrive in Cabo on the 9th that gives us 6 days We will head for Ensenada on the 10th and arrive on the 11th. If we have mechanical issues we will have a few days to sort them out so we can be in Ensenada before the race starts. We will hook up with Mikes crew, the Mc Millans, and Hopefully Scott and the Expo crew as well. The day after the race starts we plan tto head to Yuma and run El Camino Del Diable with Chris Cole from Campa. After that head back to Tampa.

Mkes crew will ship out to Tuscon and scoop up their trucks on the 7th. then drive the Rocky Point - El olfo run and arrive in Ensenada on the 10th. THey will spend the days before the race with the McMillans and then work as support crew down to Cabo. After spending a few days in Cabo they will motor to Tuscon ship the trucks home and fly back.

Now if anyone wants to Drive either the Baja course or El Camino with Cory and I let me know. Right now we are a solo rig and would love to have atleast 1 other vehicle with us especially on the Baja track.

That's what it's all about right there!

I probably won't have the time to get south of the border for the race, but may be able to skip out of work early one night when you guys pass through Tucson if your interested in a burger and local beer.....

Yes the actual mileage from tampa to cabo is one that I do no think I truely want to know. Of course it is longer on the way down via the baja race course LOL! I think the actual mileage from Tampa to cabo via hard road is around 3500 1 way give or take a few hundred miles.

Last year when we went is took us 55 hours to get to Scotts camp on the rocky point trip. We were seriously hurting by the time we got there. Of course we did have about 8 or so hours down for a visit at Toyota of Dallas, and 2 shorter stops for trivial repairs on the road. Hopefuly this hear we wil make a bit better time. (no repairs we decided to just make it the rule for this year that no breakdowns were allowed LOL!)

Well the highway speed is about 70 mph. The thing about this train is that it doesn't stop LOL. The trip out to ensenada will be done in 3 days! We will have a "half way" stop in Dallas with the guys at Toyota of Dallas on the morning of nov 2. So about 52 hours of road time including food and fuel stops in 3 days. between tampa nd sandiego I have 9 fuel stops scheduled about every 275 miles. Basically 3 18 hour days. When we get into Ensenada we will have a nights sleep get up and go over the rigs and head out for cabo. The pace will be steady to say the least. I have a passenger with me who is a land cruiser junkie and camera man. if you have a passenger then doing shifts in our rig is easy, if not then the 3 of us can rotate sleeping and driving to get it done. We usually switch drivers every other tank unless at night someone is getting punch drunk then we switch every tank.

So if after that your still interested then let me know so we can get you in the loop on all the intimate details.

I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get that much time off work, I will have to start planning for next year in the event you are making this an annual thing. That really sucks I know I would have a blast.
