Overland Journal Water Bottle?

Count me out for SIGG bottles - the only positive thing about them is you can't see the color of the water after you've treated it with iodine! Here's a short list of what I don't like...

  • The bottle dents easily, reducing the volume;
  • The inside coating cracks when the bottle dents;
  • The stopper isn't attached to the bottle and is easily lost;
  • The rubber washer on the stopper falls off easily;
  • When its cold out the narrow neck chokes up with ice first even though the rest of the contents is still liquid;
  • The bottle splits when the water inside freezes;
  • The smallest piece of ice on the thread causes a leak;
  • When its hot out you can't put ice cubes in the bottle;
  • You can't see from the outside how full the bottle is.

Seriously, a 1 liter soda bottle performs better.

Cheers,
Graham

What about something like this? I know it's not metal and as pretty but I really think it has more advantages. It is also a lot less expensive. Of course we would put a different logo on it.

Hijack: I like both logo options. I would buy either one.

Now - carry on with the "Best Bottle for your Expedition Vehicle" thread.:)

No good deed goes unpunished. ;) Anyway as a peace offering, and with no personal experience of it whatsoever, I think the Overland logo would look splendid on a "classic kit" canteen...

Naw, just a little humor.:wavey:

If we are to place the Overland Logo on a bottle, it should be the best expedition bottle available. SIGG looks very cool; but if another bottle is better, then so be it. I don't own any SIGG stock. :sombrero:

Yup :D

The Klean Kanteen does look appealing. Besides, I've got too many Nalgene bottles anyway - they just don't die!

Not that it bother me, but some don't like the fact that the custom work for Klean is done in China.

Sigg does all their stuff in the land of all things Swiss.

I know what you mean about Nalgenes. I have way too many. Although they don't break the ultra scuffed plastic does not look as cool as dented metal, like old military canteens. Classic.

The other thing I don't like about nalgenes is they don't fit in my cup holder. :(

I would be in for any of the designs... and bottles, I am pretty easy to hook on that kind of stuff. I just think it would look cool, something that nobody in my part of the world would have.... well maybe one or two others, cuz I would buy them as gifts for them...keep us posted if this gets any legs under it and becomes a reality.

OOooooo, the bottle version would fit in the cup holder. Excellent.

How to purchase? Hmmm.

Call and tell them you are the leader of a small country?;)

They are in Irvine, CA. Maybe someone could go visit them.

My favorite of the SIGG bottles is their replica 1941 Swiss Army Field Bottle.

0.6-liter oval aluminum flask, nested in a detachable stainless-steel cup with collapsing handles, secured with a leather strap.

I like these the best. Very Bear Grylls! Put an OJ logo on there, and I'll like it even better. Someone DOES need to talk to dhki. I think I would prefer one of those over the SIGG.

:oops:

I re-read the minimum order for the Klean Kanteen and the stainless steel ones, you only need to order 160 units. For the powdercoated ones, it was a minimum of 500.

I haven't seen anyone from Overland Journal popup and say if they want to do this or allow their logo to be used. Is anyone who has replied from Overland Journal? If not, has anyone talked to them???

But how do you purchase from them?

The DHK Stainless Steel Military Bottle is designed with 2.25” inch wide mouth for multiple applications. The soldier has an option to heat the bottle to melt ice and/or boil water for use with MRE’s. The neck is wide enough to accommodate utensils. The DHK Stainless Steel Bottle is fully compliant with FDA, NSF and other applicable standards. The DHK Stainless Steel Military Bottle can also be used as a signaling device in the event that a soldier is trapped behind enemy lines. The mirror polished surface can be used to reflect an optical beam of sunlight to rescue helicopters, allowing the soldier to maintain radio silence.

Perfect. And you 2M aficionados can communicate with the Morse code you learned during ham training!

Cheers,
Graham
