All I can say is that I am still breaking the thing in and it is stupid fast.

And yes it feels like a toy after the GS... I'd guess that it is the better part of 200# lighter.

this is some back way to bahia de los angeles from hwy 1. i was on a 2 week trip from oakland-copper canyon-over the mountains to the ferry at topo then north from la paz.

titus canyon near death valley carried a small pack on my back for this trip.

finally got the dirt bagz for a trip to the sierras which are all i'll take for mexico trips in the future. i travel light, tools and a change of clothes are the bulk of it.

got this giant bike for a trip with my wife. fun but since i can only have 1 bike at a time it had to go to make room for the XR650R.

Sweet KTM....wish I felt I could control myself on one....bloody fast bikes! I think Motor Cyclist mag hit 130 mph on dirt on that bike during the testing....

On the last tank.... 225 miles when I went onto reserve. I filled the tank with 6.5 gal. Assume .5 gal unusable... and 30mpg... I should have an easy 250 mile range.

Thanks! Here's my Secondary Expedition vehicle for going minimalist. XR400R plated with big tank. Simple is good.

My old expedition bike... I kinda miss it.

And because this is Expedition Portal here's my third choice vehicle (although it's usually carrying the XR on a hitch rack)...
