Here is another option for the hitch carrier. Be careful not to overload it, they say it's good for 400 lbs. However, loads spike when you are going down bumpy roads. The 400 lb. KLR in these photos is cantilevered out far away from the truck hitch and this lever arm amplifies the loads considerably. I'd guess that a good pot hole would spike the loads as much as twice the amount, which could result in something breaking and your bike will be on the road behind you. I'd supplement the carrier with a few load binder straps pulling up on the hitch carrier frame to ease the loads and stabilize it. Not only is the carrier stressed from these loads, but your hitch would be subjected to them as well. The only carriers like this I've seen that are designed well are the ones with the dual hitch receivers, which would require you to modify your truck's hitch.
