OK, That's twice now I've seen pictures of yours with an Astro in the background. Looks like you've done well on that too. I keep contemplating picking up a Montero but if I do I have to sell my Astro adventure van which is so hard to do :( unfortunately I can't justify keeping both
I also have run out of room. That Saffari/Astro is my work van. It has very light blue flames on the front.
Im looking at a very clean 1990 montero that I have watched for years and now the owner wants to sell. BUT I have no place to keep it.

Black roof...YES it gets hot in KC in the summer, I was going to go white but then found this awesome pic of a Landrover 110 ICE edition and fell in love with the paint scheme

Here is a picture of the Landrover Defender 110 ICE edition I am modeling the Montero after.

I had a gen 1 that was white and black it was my 1st 4wd...man I should have never sold it. Can't go wrong with white and black color scheme.

Just a few from this last week and yesterday. 89 2.6 with a weber and 33s

carnage for the day was relatively minor, just a seized P/S pump; cut the belt and go

We finished the day at Nye beach in Newport Oregon for some delicious seafood.

Every time I see a blue Raider, it gets me so motivated to wrap up my overhaul.

the monty's of lore...

So ran across this and decided to bumpit up....lotsa great ideas here..I have a 1990 3.0 fuelinjected monty that I am starting the resto on....I will be doing the engine work and a shop friend will do head work...thinking of re-grind cams, DOES anyone have comments on good springs and valve guides for the heads?

know it's hard to find parts for the engine, yes rpw in aussie...I want to do the engine right so I can turbo it or perhaps the easton supercharger eventually..

am a mechanic and have restored a mazda b2000 (1986) also....thanks!!

Is it hard to find parts for Gen 1's? I imagine you could keep the motor going but a lot of other stuff seem like it would be difficult..

Toasty

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Most all of the parts can be updated with Gen 2 parts and or Jeep parts. Lots of changeover like the Gen 2, unfortunately the Gen 3 so far has been the hardest to find parts for. I have run into "this is the last one of these anywhere" a couple times already with mine.
