Question - F150 or Range Rover

We owned a 2003 expedition that we sold 4 years later solely to pay off some debt, VERY tough decision. The only thing we spent money on were oil changes/lube jobs at the dealer and one failed window regulator fixed under warranty/recall. Very solid truck from the interior(xlt trim) to the finish to the 8500 lb towing capacity to the 5.4l triton v8 that was as smooth as it was powerful. Oh, and it got 18mpg average which is pretty damn good for a big truck. Drove it all the way to and from Montana and it was very comfortable.

I think having dealer support ANYWHERE in the country is almost a chiche these days, but it really does make the trip more about your family and the adventure, and not about the vehicle when you know you can get any part, any where, any time. (and that likely it's not going to break in the first place)

So yeah, of the two there's no question which is the better truck.

What's a RRC??

RRC = Range Rover Classic. With a few modifications and a few spare parts, reliability does not become as big an issue. However, having said that, I would still choose a Ford over a Land Rover. I'm pretty sure anyone with half a brain on any Land Rover board would choose the Ford option.

Issues with Land Rovers:
1 - LUCAS: electrical issues galore
2 - Certain driveline parts need to be upgraded just to accommodate the stress of expedition travel - axles, driveshafts, CV's, etc.
3 - Did I mention the electrical issues?
4 - Just in case I wasn't clear: electrical issues.

Go Ford.:coffee:

I have had a 2009 F150 Super Crew Cab for about 90 days and its the best vehicle I have ever owned. Taken on two weekend camping and firelane trips that were a blast. Super comfortable and quiet on the highway to get to the fun stuff and made no issue of sand roads. Great room, excelent payload, and more than adequate off road ability. Its no rock crawler but it did just fine on nothing more than some ATV trails.

Oh yeah, and cheap to fix. No matter how off the beaten path you go in North or South America the mechanic at the end of the world garage has seen a F 150!
